Ghost of an Enchantment: A Paranormal Romance Mystery (Wickwood Chronicles Book 2)

by J. E. McDonald

About this book

A witch walks into a bar…

An energy-reader of many talents, Stella Campfield juggles paranormal consulting, website design, and the tricky art of being a good witch. Her sudden streak of bad luck takes a nosedive when her best friend accidentally opens a portal to another dimension! A dangerous essence slips through, and Stella blames herself. Fixing the problem brings her face-to-face with the captivating stranger from the bar, the one whose addictive energy she can’t ignore. Romance isn’t on her agenda, especially with a police officer.

And the cop says…

Lucas Martinez believes in facts, not magic, but investigating a noise complaint draws him into the world of the paranormal—and right back to the enchanting woman he met at the bar. Burned floors? Floating books? Nothing adds up, so he enlists Stella’s unusual skills. Consulting with a witch might ruin his reputation, yet he can’t resist staying close to Stella as the bizarre mystery tightens around her.

Then a dark force stirs, something—or someone—that may have been there all along.

Completely Enchanting!

I LOVED this second installment for the Wickwood Chronicles! McDonald busts this world wide open and brings it to new heights and dimensions. She easily navigates blending in all of the different plot points and relationships (romantic, family, and friendship) together into a fun and \"enchanting\" story. I loved learning more about Stella's magic, and McDonald wove it into how it effects her relationships and the romance so well, and it made me get attached to her all the more. Lucas is a...

Much better than the first one!

I liked the first book in this series fine, but this one was MUCH better. The world building and paranormal elements are much more complex, and a really strong, along with a good chemistry between the main characters and a male lead to die for. The pacing at the front end was a bit slow on the romance side, with some repetitive language I could have done without, but overall the mystery of how all the strange happenings tied together was really compelling and kept me reading at a fast clip Will...

Steamy, Enchanting, and Often Sweet

I read the first book in the series set in the same town. That was more of a rom com with a spooky house. This has a different feel because different characters--but we still get appearances by the characters from the last book which is always fun to see the interactions. She's a witch who was taught not to trust law enforcement. He's a cop who doesn't know about magic. But the spark of chemistry is there from the moment they meet. Now they'll have to deal with coming from two different worlds...

Creative Deeds Reads Review

I realized when I started reading Ghost of an Enchantment that I have a thing for characters that are clueless. Actually beyond clueless when it comes to the existence of the unexplained. To be honest, I probably realized it before I read Ghost of an Enchantment, but Lucas and his adamance against anything that couldn’t be explained by anything outside the norm reinforced it. Lucas and Stella are drawn together regardless of how hard they try to deny it – and they tried really hard. Fate had...

Magic, Mystery, and Organic Romance

I fell in love with this introverted witch and straight laced, charming cop with family issues bent on helping her pretty much by the end of page one. Filled with tender, mystery, and funny moments, it kept me just as captivated as the first Wickwood book. Each novel in this series deepens the world and mystery more and more, sucking me in completely until I can't wait for the next one! )
