The Ghost and Miss Hodge

by Caylen McQueen

About this book

- [x]

“Oh, those aren't ordinary goggles, miss! There's nothing ordinary about them,” claimed the seller. “Those are special. Very special. You might not believe me, but... those goggles will let you see ghosts.”

Goggles that let you see ghosts? It's an obvious scam, but the (usually) intellectual Augusta Hodge succumbs to it. Why? She desperately wants to see her deceased father again.

Shortly after her father's death, Augusta accepts a job as a governess. She never wanted to be a governess, but as a penniless spinster, her options are limited. Her new employer is a difficult man, but he's the least of her problems.

As it happens, the otherworldly goggles actually work, and now her new employer's disembodied son won't leave her alone.

Goggles to view Ghosts!,

November 14, 2024

This was a sweet story of a woman who bought Goggles so she might be able to visit with her deceased father. Left penniless after her father died, she takes a job of governess to a 12 year old boy who last year lost his beloved older brother. She felt lost and the Carrol family were in deep grief from losing the eldest son to a motorcar deadly crash. Lots of love and healing happen but the ending with a HEA will greatly surprise the reader. I recommend this story. )

Cute

Despite the topic of death and seeing spirits, this was actually a light and fun read. I'm not sure how I expected it to end, but it quite satisfactory. It was a short but sweet book, and totally appropriate for October reading. ) One person found this helpful

This story stole my heart

Even though this story is short and simple, Caylens writing gives meaning. This short story will make you laugh, swoon over the banter and cry. It’s a sad story with a happy ending. ) One person found this helpful
