A Shadow In The Reaping (The Shadow Realm)

by Brynne Weaver

About this book

Lu is a siren forced into a life of silence, hiding in plain sight as a vampire within the unassuming village of Sanford. Her existence is defined by quiet restraint and the occasional, lethal hunt where her voice serves as a deadly lure. She has mastered the art of staying invisible, until a chance encounter with a Reaper threatens to unravel the delicate web of secrets she has spent years weaving.

Enter Ashen, a striking executioner demon from the Shadow Realm who arrives with a singular purpose: to claim a soul. When his hunt collides with Lu’s, the two become entangled in a high-stakes mystery that forces them into an uneasy, reluctant alliance. As they navigate a landscape of impossible crimes, the tension between them shifts from lethal animosity to an undeniable, electric pull.

This neon romantasy is a masterclass in dark paranormal romcom, blending wicked humor with intense, atmospheric stakes. Fans of enemies-to-lovers will relish the jagged friction between a woman who cannot speak and the man destined to be her undoing. If you are craving a spicy, witty escape into a world where danger and desire are inseparable, this is the addictive read you have been waiting for.

I read this on KU first, and was BLOWN AWAY at how fun and spicy and amusing this story was. It has everything a dark paranormal romance should have and is just another testament to why I will always support Brynne's books. Her Ruinous Love trilogy is what brought me in, but I really thing The Shadow Realm trilogy tops it 🥲 5/5 🌟 However! In my excitement to share this book with others, I ordered a physical copy to send to a friend. When I was the qauility is bad... I should have taken a...

Brynne Weaver does it again

I have yet to read a Brynne Weaver book that I didn’t like, and this whole series was no exception. As she so beautifully does, BW was able to give us a dark romance laced with wit and humor. When I tell you I laughed during this series, I mean a lot. The kind of laugh that bursts loudly out of me and startles my husband sitting next to me. The level of petty that Lu would stoop to was top notch and I loved her for it. The butter scene(s) had me cackling. It wasn’t only hilarious, though. This...

This book started so strong. I was actually enjoying it but once the story started progressing, I started losing interest a little bit at a time. I was expecting Lu to be more badass. She was a five thousand year old vampire but it didn't seem to me that she was that powerful. Don't get me wrong, I did like her... it's just I was expecting more from her. She was funny, a little bit crazy and I didn't mind her quoting and singing WAP but I wanted more visciousness from her. It seemed like Ashen...

Love Brynne Weaver. Fun story, relatable characters. The cliffhanger at the end is so mean, order book two before you get to the end. You'll need it! )

Twists, banter, and a unique story for the ages

This was an absolute delight to read. The characters, the story, the unique settings. It has everything. From the first few pages I was hooked. Our FMC is pure gold. I was laughing out loud throughout the whole thing, even when I was also on the edge of my seat, or curling my toes with smutty joy. The ending…😱 thank goodness it’s a completed series! )
