D. J. Heart's werewolf story has a good narrative. The biggest problem is the biggest part of the book: violent sex. I don't relate at all to enjoying flogging, slapping, spitting or urinating into someone's mouth. It's gross. And in this story, it keeps going on and on. The story line is good and what got me to not DNF within the first few chapters but the book should come with trigger warnings. If you find consent sexy this is Not the book for you. It is crazy because it's clear in the story that the character know the appropriate way to discuss permissions but don't seem capable of caring. August is one big walking red flag. First leap into the werewolf romance genre with this book and I was not disappointed at all! Story was well paced and characters were vivid and well written. Really appreciated that the \"lore\" of the world was explained in conversations and questions from Dylan to his Alphas.
