Bloody Bones: An Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter Novel

by Laurell K. Hamilton

About this book

Branson, Missouri, is known for family-friendly entertainment, but a string of grizzly, unsolved murders has cast a dark shadow over the tourist trap. When the local authorities find themselves out of their depth, they call in the one woman capable of navigating the city’s supernatural underbelly: Anita Blake. As a professional animator and necromancer, Anita has spent her life staring death in the face, but these ritualistic killings suggest a primal, ancient evil that defies even her expertise.

This fifth installment of the iconic urban fantasy series elevates the stakes by dragging Anita far from her St. Louis comfort zone. Forced to travel deep into the Ozarks, she must confront a lethal mystery involving powerful shifters and the shifting alliances of the undead. With the enigmatic and seductive master vampire Jean-Claude by her side, the tension between them simmers, blending high-octane action with the complex, slow-burn romantic entanglements that fans of the paranormal romance genre crave.

Readers looking for an unapologetically tough heroine will find Anita at her best. She is a sharp-witted powerhouse navigating a world where the monsters are often more human than the people hunting them. Gritty, suspenseful, and undeniably atmospheric, this is an essential read for those who love dark, character-driven thrillers.

Bloody Bones

Excellent! Wonderful piece of writing that makes up for Lunatic Cafe. Bloody Bones is so much better then Lunatic Cafe one might believe there are two different writers. In my opinion you could skip Lunatic. This story has a much better antagonist, story line, ending. Hands down a more enjoyable read. I was contemplating stopping this series after Lunatic and I am glad I gave Hamilton another shot. On to the next novel and here's hoping it reads as well. )

Good book

This book is similar to the other books so far in the series that it’s full of action. I didn’t love this as much as it was rather dark in some parts and the bad guys seem to keep winning. I really like a Jean-Claude for Anita but he just doesn’t seem that strong. I understand that she’s the main character and should be very tough and be the one to beat the bad guys but he doesn’t seem that powerful even though he’s a master vampire who have lived for many centuries. There just seems to be so...

It Was Nice to Read About Other Creatures That Aren't Common

April 5, 2024

It is always nice to hear about other mystical creatures that are not brought up a lot in supernatural novels. It is always nice to hear about beings other than werewolves and vampires. This series really opens the scope for other creatures who have been historically told in stories for hundreds of years. It is like a fun \"history\" lesson. I am glad that I stumbled upon this series thanks to a local bookstore owner. I love Kelley Armstrong's \"Women of the Otherworld Series,\" so the \"Anita...
