Cursed by Moonlight: A Wolf Shifter Romance (Fanged Fairytales Book 1)

by Kes Winter

About this book

One night of passion in a fog-shrouded forest was supposed to be an escape from a lonely, dutiful life. Instead, it becomes a dangerous trap when the wickedly handsome stranger turns out to be Dominik Riven, a powerful wolf shifter with a dark obsession. To secure her father’s freedom, she is forced to make a desperate trade: her own life in exchange for his.

The catch? Dominik’s secretive, high-stakes pack forbids outsiders, leaving them only one option to survive the transition. She must play the role of his fated mate and fiancée. This forced proximity lands her right in the heart of the enemy’s den, sharing a bed with a man who is as possessive as he is lethal. What begins as a strategic charade quickly unravels as their crackling tension threatens to ignite into something far more dangerous than a simple lie.

Perfect for fans of dark, atmospheric paranormal romance, this Beauty and the Beast retelling delivers a gritty, slow-burn experience. With its blend of pack dynamics, intense enemies-to-lovers friction, and a morally grey alpha, this story is a must-read for anyone seeking a moody, addictive escape into a world where the line between captive and lover blurs under the moonlight.

So amazing

This retelling of beauty and the beast is so amazing! I loved the characters, the angst and the spicy romance. This is my second Kes Winter book and I'll be looking for more. The combination of fairy tale and paranormal is seamless. Honestly my only complaint was trying to pronounce the main male characters bffs name Otaktay. My brain kept pronouncing it Okaytay lol. This author is great, read this book you'll love it! )

A wonderful retelling of a Classic

This was a good story. It is a creative retelling of Beauty and the Beast but with wolf shifters and other paranormal characters. The writing was wonderful and situation was intriguing. Definitely worth the read! I voluntary read this book after receiving a free ARC. )

🌕 Cursed by the Moonlight by Kes Winters – A Beautiful Retelling That Fell a Bit Flat

November 13, 2025

As a Beauty and the Beast retelling set in a paranormal world of werewolves and humans, Cursed by the Moonlight had all the elements I love — strong writing, lush atmosphere, and a promising setup. But while the premise pulled me in, the story didn’t quite deliver the emotional depth I was hoping for. The connection between the main characters felt surface-level, missing that dangerous tension or slow-burn passion that usually makes this kind of tale unforgettable. The pacing also dragged at...

A Retelling As Old As Time

November 5, 2025

This was a great story. A Beauty and the Beast retelling with wolf shifters and a brief cameos of vampires but set in modern day with a billionaire CEO and Alpha of a pack and the daughter of an inventor trying to create a collar to control the wolves. It did have some moments that dragged or seemed like unnecessary filler but it flowed well overall. The inventor father being named Maurice was an obvious call back to the Disney classic, but unlike Belle's loving father, Willow's father was more...
