Death Dates the Oracle: Nocturne Falls, Book 15

by Kristen Painter

About this book

In the whimsical town of Nocturne Falls, where Halloween is a permanent state of mind, Eamon Underwood finds solace among the deceased. As a mortician with the unsettling supernatural ability to see a person’s expiration date, he keeps the living at a distance to avoid the burden of their ticking clocks. That is, until Troula Kouris moves in next door. When Eamon looks at her, he sees absolutely nothing—a blank slate that defies his gift and sparks a dangerous curiosity.

Troula, a descendant of the original Greek oracles, arrives in town fearing that her destiny is tied to her own demise. As the two are forced into proximity by their neighboring homes and a meddling, adorable orange kitten, they discover that their connection is as fated as it is forbidden. This paranormal romance masterfully weaves together mystery and destiny, proving that even those who specialize in death can find a reason to embrace life.

If you are hunting for a cozy yet suspenseful shifter-filled escape, this installment of the beloved series delivers the perfect blend of charm and intrigue. With its witty dialogue and heartwarming animal rescue subplot, it is the ultimate treat for fans of magical, character-driven love stories.

So sweet

July 29, 2025

This book is all about mysteries. So many unknown twists and turns in the storyline that it keeps you guessing. The characters remain the same, the bad guy is clearly bad. The good people are obviously good caring people. What isn’t clear and keeps you guessing is the male lead, what is he? Is he going to cause death to many? The author does a great job of keeping you guessing until the last bit of the book and then it all seems to resolve into a lot of great answers and of course a HEA for the...

Brilliant as Always and Love the Cat Rescue angle!

I always enjoy Kristen’s books, especially this series. But this one hit extra close to home. I have been in cat rescue for over 20 years and everything in this book was spot on. And the timing…I had a stray pregnant kitty give birth last night right before reading about Chloe giving birth in the book lol Great read, great series! )

another great Nocturne Falls story

4 stars - It was really good Eamon Underwood has spent his life avoiding people because of his ability to see how much time a person has left. The only people he spends time with are his Uncle Seamus and the dead he interacts with during his job as a mortician. That quickly changes though when Troula Kouris moves next door to live with her aunts. It was so nice being back in Nocturne Falls and meeting more of its residents. Eamon has spent his life hiding from the world and struggles under the...

Good from start to finish!

Just finished the 15th book in this series- and I absolutely commend Kristen Painter for writing delightful characters with unique plot lines and I enjoyed this last book as much as I did the first. Every book in the series is a strong stand-alone RomCom, but together it’s an incredible anthology of delight. Great series! )
