Forbidden Honor: Dragon Royals, Book 1

by May Dawson

About this book

In a world where dragon shifters rule with an iron fist, royals are exclusively male, arrogant, and untouchable. When orphaned servant Honor experiences a first shift that defies every expectation—sprouting wings and breathing fire—she inadvertently shatters the status quo. To survive, she adopts the persona of Lucien Finn, a male recruit infiltrating the prestigious military academy meant only for the elite.

Life at the academy is a high-stakes game of deception. By day, Honor must hold her own against the four legendary Dragon Royals who despise the newcomer. By night, she is the servant they unknowingly flirt with, caught in a tangled web of stolen kisses, brewing tensions, and dangerous secrets. This slow-burn paranormal romance expertly weaves academy life with the intensity of forbidden royalty, keeping readers on the edge of their seats as the lines between her two identities begin to blur.

As the Scourge threatens the kingdom and the princes grow increasingly suspicious of Lucien, Honor faces an impossible choice. Can she maintain her disguise while resisting the magnetic pull of the very men she is meant to overthrow? Packed with sharp wit, steamy encounters, and pulse-pounding action, this series opener is a must-read for any shifter romance fan.

Such an awesome book! Mystery, Secrets, Danger, Action, and Steamy Bits!

Definitely my new favorite May Dawson book! From the start of this one, I can tell this is going to be an amazing series. This book will blow you away ~ it is sooooooo fantastic! Honor is definitely one of my favorite FMCs. She’s strong, snarky, brave, intelligent, independent, and she loves her sister more than anything and she will risk everything to protect and take care of her. Descriptions of Honor’s day-to-day and home life kind of remind me of a Cinderella tale – with strong, sexy dragon...

Great Story!

This book is fabulous, and I rarely say that about any book. There are a few small errors, some typos, if that matters to you, but those are few and far between, thank goodness because that is a pet peeve of mine, too. The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because near the end of the story, when Honor is detained by her step parents, an entire scene is left out. Without giving away spoilers... we know it's coming, and we know it will be bad, but then all of a sudden, the characters are on...

oh boy what a read!

The story is very well detailed with all of the things that makes a book worthy of reading, mischief, loyalty, shifters, adventures, familial love, steamy sex and defiance towards authorities. The main character is so well written that it just makes you fall in love with her, she is so witty and funny that it also helps make the book flow. This is sort of a reverse harem type (which is very steamy and fun) but it’s nothing concrete yet. But definitely read if you are into a main female...

Wow. Just Wow.

This book was everything I love about paranormal romance and had me hooked from the beginning. I was initially hesitant to read this as the “pretending to be the opposite sex” angle typically leaves me frustrated, but if that’s stopping you like it was me, please reconsider. May Dawson writes it in a way that is witty, magical, and fun instead of annoying, childish, and confusing as I’ve read in the past. Honor and the princes are complex characters in the best way possible. Multiple love...
