Heart of Obsidian: A Psy-Changeling Novel

by Nalini Singh

About this book

Kaleb Krychek has long been a master of shadows, a cold and calculating member of the Psy Council whose lethal power is matched only by his ruthless ambition. He is a man who has spent his entire life operating from the darkness, willing to burn the world down to find the one woman who vanished from his memory—and his life—years ago. Sahara Kyriakus was the only person who ever saw the man beneath the monster, and her sudden return brings with it secrets that threaten to topple the foundations of their society.

This installment in the celebrated Psy-Changeling series is a masterclass in urban fantasy, blending high-stakes political intrigue with a searing, forbidden romance. The narrative thrives on the tension between Kaleb’s terrifying, god-like abilities and his desperate, singular obsession with Sahara. As they navigate a landscape of crumbling mental conditioning and dangerous conspiracies, the line between madness and salvation begins to blur.

For readers who crave intense, character-driven paranormal romance, this story delivers a visceral experience. It masterfully utilizes the fated mates trope while exploring the heavy price of freedom in a world built on control. Prepare for an addictive, dark journey that reshapes the entire series.

Possibly my fave in this series

Heart of Obsidian may just be my favorite book in the Psy-Changeling series. I loved learning more about Kaleb, and Sahara was totally awesome as well. The overall plot of the series moved along very nicely as well, and we even found out who the Ghost is! The intricate relationships between some of the psy and the changeling packs, as well as the war with pure-psy continued, and there were quite a few things that caught me completely off guard. Heart of Obsidian starts really strong! With Kaleb...

Great addition to the series! :D

5 stars I loved this story and I didn't expect that..really I didn't! This book has Kaleb Krychek as the hero and considering he's a member of the Psy council (that is now pretty much defunct) and has seemed like a bad guy with plans to take over the whole Psy-net I wasn't sure what to expect in this book but Singh did a great job. Because lots of unexpected and interesting events in this book it might be hard not to let stuff slip during this review (although I'll try not to let anything too...

One of the Best of the Series

\"To fight evil, you have to understand the dark.\" WARNING: This review contains spoilers that detract from the wonderful slow revelation of information that Singh has done in the novel. I would recommend reading this book and enjoying the journey. It is fabulous! THE STORY: Kaleb Krychek is a Psy councilor, a cardinal Tk (Telekenetic) and perhaps the most powerful and dangerous man alive. Throughout the series, it has been unclear whether he is good and evil. Raised by a serial killer, at...

Fairly isolated from the rest of Psy/Changeling world but it works

Excellent addition to a hot series. Kaleb Krycheck, Psy Counselor, and Sahara Kyriakus, missing member of Night Star Clan (Faith's family). Turns out Kaleb has a big secret. Considered the most Silent of all the Psy; he's not so Silent after all. Sahara has been held captive for 7 years and can't remember much about her life. She and Kaleb obviously have a past and the book slowly unravels their history and their relationship to each other while building on their chemistry and attraction....

Five Stars for Kaleb!

**- Spoilers ahead -** I have a new book boyfriend. Yup, I said that in the most immature sing song voice too. How much do I love this book?! There's no scale to judge. I've been one of the many Nalini Singh fans hanging on to her every facebook, twitter and blog post to snatch up the meager crumbs that were so scarce, poring over them for clues. When authors give up the first chapters as a teaser, I don't take the bait - especially when I'm highly anticipating the book - but I couldn't resist...
