House of Burning Frost: The Kingdom of Crows, Book 5

by Olivia Wildenstein

About this book

Isla Ríhbiadh is a crown princess with a talent for trouble, but her latest blunder lands her in a precarious situation: a fake engagement to the notoriously irritable Ice King, Konstantin. As an immortal shifter sorceress, Isla is used to navigating dangerous political waters, but she never expected to find herself playing the role of a royal bride. Their betrothal is a calculated ruse designed to trap a mutual enemy, with strict rules against catching real feelings.

This spicy paranormal romance masterfully weaves together the best of the genre, featuring a delicious enemies-to-lovers dynamic that crackles with tension. Konstantin is the quintessential grumpy king, a man of ice and duty, while Isla brings the sunshine and chaos needed to thaw his frozen heart. As the line between their strategic performance and genuine desire begins to blur, they must navigate a web of peril that threatens both their kingdom and their resolve.

If you are hunting for your next obsession, this installment in the Kingdom of Crows series delivers high-stakes fantasy with a heavy dose of romance. Whether you are a long-time fan of the series or a newcomer looking for a standalone escape, you will be captivated by Isla and Konstantin’s journey. Dive into a world where duty clashes with passion and discover if this royal charade can ever survive the truth.

loved this series

This is one of my favorite series. Reading this for the first time felt like a journey with the characters. I know not everyone loves ACOTAR but that experience of reading this series left me with the same excitement and love. You get sucked into the story and feel it all with them. The fourth book wasn’t my favorite but I still loved the other books. I loved this series as a whole. If I didn’t I wouldn’t have it in my wishlist of “loves” to have a copy of these books. )

Fantastic ending!

I did not read this one immediately after I finished Fallon's story. I was able to dive in seamlessly to the world the author developed so well. Lots of characters to remember, new ones we get to meet. Love Konstantin's serious demeanor and how he cracks for Isla. The crows and their interactions are always hilarious. The political espionage is wild and wicked and keeps you guessing. Great book and author! ) 2 people found this helpful

I love this entire series! The stories are so unique and the characters just make me want to be friends with them…most of them at least. Interested to see where it goes from here. )

Fantastic Series!

What a great series! The plot is an absorbing story and all the detailed characters brings it together! I love the understanding and respect that grows between the different types of magical creatures. They all have unique gifts, and work together for what is just. There is romance, not only for the main characters but also feel it between the other mates pairs. Antonio was not very visible in this book. I think a story could be there for him and Naeave. I will continue reading this author. So...

Slightly let down

June 3, 2025

It was nice to be back in the world of Faeries, Serpents, Crows, and Shabbins but there were times when the book was confusing—too many characters, new names for old characters, and incorrect familial labels (Isla calls Naeve her cousin, when Naeve is actually her aunt). Hated all the use of current slang, like “FOMO”. That type of language has no business being in a fantasy book like this and it really took me out of the story. ) 3 people found this helpful
