What an awesome beginning to a new series! I so enjoyed the world the author created for us. The groundwork for the series, the back story of the characters, their depth, amazing! Xander hates Kyra because of what she is. What happens when her life is threatened and Xander is ordered to be her bodyguard? Will he come to see her? The real her? This was a really enjoyable read and perfect for lovers of fantasy! In a world where Fae, Witches, Druids, Vampires, and Daemons and more Kyra is caught between freedom and captivity due to the nature of magic she was born with. Xander hates black witches but can’t get Kyra out of his head. Due to unknown threats they are forced into close proximity to allow Xander, one of the Guardians, to offer protection. Spice rating is 1/5 it’s practically non existent so if you aren’t a huge fan of spice...

The good: • This story had potential. It’s a classic enemies to lovers (he’s prejudice against her kind bc of past family-related trauma). • It had those delicious “tell me who did this so I can unalive him” vibes and push/pull romantic tension. I found Taylor Aston White on IG and looked this novel up after watching one of her promo videos. I always read the sample before determining if the novel meets my rigid requirements - good writing skills (no head hopping, descriptive, etc.), third person POV, multiple POVs, and an interesting story. I enjoyed this book a lot. It has pretty much everything you would want in a mythical enemies to lovers book. It starts and finishes thier story in one book which I very much appreciate yet you can tell its part of a series. The only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is because I feel like certain parts could have stretched out longer or had more details. Some parts felt no rushed, but over simplified despite thier harrowing back stories. )
