Lord of the Fading Lands (The Tairen Soul Book 1)

by C. L. Wilson

About this book

Rainier Velizarius, the Fey King of the Fading Lands, is a man haunted by centuries of grief and the soul-crushing loss of his people. Known as the Tairen Soul, he is a formidable shifter whose spirit is bound to the majestic, winged predators of his realm. For ages, he has wandered the world in a cold, tormented haze, searching for the reincarnation of his long-dead mate. His destiny shifts violently when he crosses paths with Ellysetta Baristani, a simple woodcutter’s daughter with a mysterious past and a hidden power that threatens to unravel the fragile peace of the kingdom.

This sweeping romantic fantasy masterfully blends high-stakes adventure with the addictive intensity of paranormal romance. As Rain and Ellysetta are drawn together by an undeniable, fated bond, they must navigate a landscape of lethal court intrigue and ancient magic. The narrative leans heavily into beloved tropes like fated mates and the grumpy-meets-sunshine dynamic, creating a tension that is as volatile as it is heart-wrenching.

If you are craving an immersive world where epic battles meet soul-deep devotion, this series is your next obsession. C.L. Wilson crafts a lush, dangerous atmosphere that will keep you turning pages long into the night.

Infinity Stars

June 30, 2024

This book was magic. I have not had this feeling with a Fantasy book in over a decade. I am eternally grateful to two friends who introduced this series to me and spoke quite highly of it. This book gave me back a little piece of my childhood almost, in the way that it felt as if I literally escaped to another world for a time. Lord of the Fading Lands has landed a spot on my list of Infinity Stars books. I treasure this world. Attempting to do my best at a decent review, I first must admit...

Good, but definitely not 5 stars

October 2, 2009

I seem to be in the minority who like this book but don't think its outstanding. Seriously, as good as LotFL is, to give it five full stars is ridiculous. It has good points, but it has some bad points as well. I don't want to waste time summarizing the plot, so I'll suffice to say that this is basically a romantic fantasy, much more relationship oriented than most fantasy, but it is too deeply steeped in the traditions and worldbuilding of fantasy for anyone to label it as purely romance with...

Wow! This romantic-fantasy packs a punch! Very impressed; only took reading it halfway through before I bought the next 3 books

June 21, 2016

I picked this up for $4 in \"like new\" condition after finishing up another of C.L Wilson's books \"The Winter King.\" I loved that book; it was full of romance and fantasy and had a full, engaging plot. The problem was that that story ended with just one book, as the next book in the series will have a new couple as the focus, leaving me wanting more because I was very impressed by the fantasy woven into that book and the author's ability to create a true romantic-fantasy, not just a...

Written after I read the series and started over!

January 9, 2011

I am writing this after I finished the series, picking up the next book as soon as I finished the one before. Then I did something I never do - I picked up this book and just re-read it again. This series captured me in some way that no other except the Outlander series has. It is about a truly beautiful LOVE between an incredible Fey warrior king and the unlikely woman who called him from the sky and became his reason for living. Pure fantasy, incredible romance between the Fey King, Rain...

At least the main male is shmexy 🔥

April 27, 2021

So here’s the thing: the writing is good and the plot was had SO much potential. The first 200 pages of the book were great! I was intrigued and excited to get to other big scenes. But by page the 300th page I was like why is this dragging. I was expecting a mating scene, a marriage scene, talks about children maybe, but none of this happened? The subplot wasn’t even finished and the villain is still super active. It was just so anti-climatic and I was expecting MORE from this couple. There are...
