by K.F. Breene

About this book

The stakes have never been higher for Jessie and her eccentric found-family. As the eighth installment in this addictive paranormal romance series, the tension reaches a breaking point when an encroaching enemy threatens to dismantle everything the Kingley pack has fought to build. With total annihilation looming on the horizon, the focus shifts to a desperate, high-stakes defense of Austin that will push every member of the crew to their absolute limits.

Fans of shifter romances will find themselves completely swept away by the intricate pack dynamics and the irresistible enemies-to-lovers slow burn that continues to simmer beneath the chaos. While the series is renowned for its signature humor and heart, this entry delivers an emotionally charged, epic battle that shakes the foundation of the world Jessie has carved out for herself. It is a masterclass in pacing, proving that even eight books in, the momentum is only accelerating.

Prepare to laugh, cry, and stay up far too late. This is a must-read for anyone craving a magical midlife adventure that refuses to lose its spark. Whether you are invested in the romance or the survival of the pack, this explosive chapter ensures that Jessie’s journey remains as unputdownable as ever.

A winner!

This book was amazing! I loved it. I've read all of the Magical Midlife (Leveling Up) books and I fell in love with the characters from the start. This particular book had so much stuffed into it that I don't know where to start. The world building is incredible. I love all the characters. The love and bond between Jess and Austin is swoon worthy! This book had it all - humor, sadness, adventure, suspense, romance, sexual tension, long held anger, sibling rivalry, loyalty, bravery, vengeance,...

Absolutely epic. Emotionally charged. Still hilarious

This book was freaking epic. When I finished, I stared at the wall, unwilling to go to sleep because it shook me to my core. I walked into this book with a lot of concern—it is titled Battle, after all. I knew the tension would be high. The plot, dire. The emotional toll? Devastating. And then Edgar introduced his battle flowers. By name: Marsha-Marsha-Marsha. Jolene, Jo-lene, Jo-leeeene. (yes, sing it like Dolly) I was instantly laughing—nearly choking on my wine. “It’s like herding cats...

I laughed, I cried, I couldn't put it down

Most series start to drag by book 8, not this one! Jessie and her crew don't seem to ever have time to just breath, but that's okay, they are up to the challenge. This time they need to defend Austin's family from a huge mage attack that could kill them all. But don't worry, Edgar has a new batch of attack flowers! And of course Jessie and Austin have an incredible group of people to help them. This book has the bonus of telling the story through the eyes of multiple members of the team, like...

Fantastic and just what I needed

September 22, 2023

This was a truly great read. Everything I needed in this series was here and in standard form. We got the banter of Ivy Crew and all it’s glory, a solid outcome with the battle against Momar, more Nessa (she has solidly replaced Niamh as the one to watch), new characters that will undoubtedly join the main crew at O’Brien’s, actual story progression (seriously, after defeating Momar what would’ve been left of the magical world? Now we have something to look forward to), and a real reason to...

Amazing story! Hilarious, Page Turning, Action Packed

September 19, 2023

After finishing this book, I needed a break. It was so good, I need to just sit on it for a while. Jessie and Austin and their convocation leave to help prepare and defend Kingsley’s pack against Momar’s attack. They have a challenging time with Austin facing his past with the pack. There are challenges from the shifters and in general. Jessie, Austin and Brochan do not disappoint in handling them. The battle is page turning and has you at the edge of your seat. It’s also heart breaking. I...
