Natural Born Charmer (Chicago Stars Book 7)

by Susan Elizabeth Phillips

About this book

Dean Robillard has everything a man could want: NFL stardom, model looks, and a life of luxury. Yet, as the legendary Chicago Stars quarterback finds himself at a crossroads, he trades the stadium lights for an aimless cross-country road trip. His solitude is shattered on a remote Colorado highway when he encounters a woman in a giant beaver suit. This isn't just a quirky setup; it is the collision of two worlds that are about to be irrevocably changed.

Blue Bailey is an artist on a mission of vengeance, and her path is as chaotic as her wardrobe. When she hitches a ride with the quintessential golden boy, she expects a simple favor. Instead, she finds herself in an urban fantasy landscape where the boundaries of reality are as thin as the chemistry between them. As they navigate a summer home filled with aging rock stars and hidden secrets, the pair discovers that their connection is far more primal than a simple fling.

For readers hunting for their next paranormal romance fix, this story delivers the perfect blend of high-stakes tension and witty banter. It is a masterclass in the grumpy-meets-sunshine trope, where shifting expectations and hidden depths keep the pages turning. Prepare for a wild, unconventional ride where the most dangerous thing isn't the road, but the heart.

Review: The beginning of this story was epic – it was so incredibly random yet completely brilliant, what a way to get straight into the action already during the first paragraphs. So, you have a gorgeous, rich, successful, albeit, with a lot of baggage, guy peacefully driving in his fancy car for a small vacation … and what does he come across in the middle of nowhere? If your first guess was a beaver, then you were stop on! Well, in reality it was a woman in a beaver costume without the head...

Do feminists Say I Love You First?

I am afraid I have become a Natural Born SEP fan (Sep=Susan Elizabeth Phillips of course) and therefore have succumbed to reading the entire Chicago Stars Series, including Natural Born Charmer. Although I find the first few chapters in these books to quite often be over the top (this one included), I nonetheless like the way they draw you in, and get you rooting for the characters. I also like the development of the characters over several books and the re-entry of characters you have come to...

My new favorite author

I was having a bad day...heck a bad week...so I thought I'd just stop and read for a while. Within just a few pages my whole day brightened. NEVER have I laughed so hard when reading! The little woman wearing the headless beaver suit and the VERY bad attitude had me in tears of laughter. Even now when I think of her struggles with that beaver tail, I just have to grin. The writing in this book is excellent, with characters that will make you laugh and also tug at your heart. I got this book...

Don't let the beaver keep you from reading

The first time I tried to read this I stopped - that's how repulsed I was by the beaver opening. I am so glad I gave it another try. I loved Dean and Anabelle in Match Me If You Can - just their absolutely unexpected, but hilarious friendship. I love Dean and Blue even more. Dean is his same charming, pretty, playboy self, even eight years into his career, and he picks up Blue as a lark. If you liked Rachel from Dream a Little Dream, you will Blue - a ball-buster extraordinaire in all the best...
