Slave to Sensation (Psy-Changelings, Book 1)

by Nalini Singh

About this book

In a futuristic society where the cold, calculating Psy race suppresses all emotion to maintain order, Sascha Duncan lives a dangerous lie. To feel is to be flawed, and to be flawed is to face total psychic erasure. However, when a series of brutal murders threatens the delicate peace between the Psy and the primal, passionate Changeling shifters, Sascha finds herself drawn into the orbit of Lucas Hunter, a lethal alpha desperate for justice.

This genre-defining urban fantasy masterfully blends high-stakes intrigue with a dark, simmering romance. As Lucas hunts for a killer, he discovers that beneath Sascha’s frozen exterior lies a depth of passion that challenges everything he knows about her kind. Their forbidden connection forces them to navigate a treacherous landscape of pack dynamics and systemic oppression, where one wrong move could destroy them both.

For readers craving a rich, immersive world, this story offers a perfect introduction to the Psy-Changeling universe. It is a gripping exploration of found family and the raw, animalistic hunger that thrives when logic is stripped away. If you are looking for your next addictive paranormal romance, prepare to be captivated by this intense tale of sacrifice, temptation, and the power of suppressed desire.

IT'S AMAZING WHAT YOU CAN DISCOVERY THE SECOND TIME AROUND!

December 9, 2014

Several years ago I got hooked on Singh's Guild Hunter Series and just could not get enough of her imaginative novels. I was desperately waiting for the next book in the Guild Hunter Series when I thought I would give this series a try. Unfortunately, I never got interested enough to even finish it. I think it was because it was just too different from the Guild Hunter Series that I was hooked on, (and still am), that I could not even give this book a chance. Last week, out of desperation -...

Unique outlook on paranormal romance. Some pages were skimmed for TMI about technical stuff.

I enjoyed reading about a whole new paranormal society. Nalini Singh creates a fantasy future unlike any other. She uses true California locations, based around the year 2080. Her world includes 3 types of species... human, changelings (predatory cat/ humans & wolf/ humans), and Singh's own creation: a species of people known as \"Psy\". The Psy have bred all emotions out of their people. They exist only for the sake of gaining power through cold efficiency. If any of their breed show emotion,...

And So My Journey Began

September 15, 2017

I’ve been reading and re-reading this series since Slave to Sensation was first released in 2006. To say that it’s a favorite doesn’t begin to do it justice. Nalini Singh is one of my top favorite authors. I adore her writing. I love her characters. And even more amazing, I am absolutely enthralled with her worlds. Over the years I’ve moved away from reading primarily Romance novels (usually fantasy/paranormal based) to reading more Urban Fantasy, Fantasy, and Sci-Fi. Though I love my happy...

Good book, GREAT series!

Oh, how I wish there was a way we reviewers can rate a writer’s entire series and not just the individual book. This book, Slave to Sensation, is the first of the Psy/Changeling series, which, at the time of this review, is up to 12 books (13 if you count the collection of novellas in Wild Invitation), with the newest in the series expected to come out in June 2014. I have read... okay, gobbled up - all of the books in this series, all in Kindle format. I have no complaints of the format Many...

Not the hotness, so a LEAN 3.5 Stars

July 22, 2013

I wanted SOOO much to like the book more than I did, especially after all the recommendations I've received for this author. However, the best I can say is... Not bad. There were some things I completely loved about the story, such as the extremely diverse cast of characters (the main reason I decided to go ahead and give it a try in spite of the-IMO-meh cover). I don't particularly like covers with real people on them unless they're uber hot, and the guy on the cover isn't exactly MY cup of...
