The Alpha's Return: Shifters of Grey Ridge, Book 7

by Reece Barden

About this book

Killian Kennedy has spent years running from his royal heritage, preferring the quiet anonymity of a life far from the political pressures of the pack. But when his niece reveals her rare white wolf lineage, the reluctant royal is forced back to Grey Ridge. His plan is simple: renounce his claim to the throne, protect his family, and vanish once more into the shadows. He never expected to be tethered to a guard who refuses to let him walk away.

Charlotte is the strong, sunshine-filled she-wolf tasked with keeping the grumpy alpha alive until the ceremony concludes. She is determined to hold his feet to the fire, but as their forced proximity ignites an undeniable spark, her mission shifts. What began as a mandatory escort duty quickly spirals into a battle for a future neither of them anticipated.

This dual POV wolf shifter romance delivers a perfect blend of high-stakes royal drama and intense emotional discovery. It is a quintessential grumpy-sunshine story that challenges the hero to choose between his carefully guarded freedom and the fated love demanding his surrender. If you are looking for your next addictive paranormal read, dive into the latest installment of this beloved series and discover if Killian will finally embrace his pack.

Engaging

I really enjoy this series as the characters are great, and the stories are very interesting and exciting. There's a little bit of the world that I don't quite like, but not enough to detract from my enjoyment of the books. However, the misuse of apostrophes when plural words are actually correct is irritating to me. Not enough to reduce a star in the rating, but certainly as a proofreader, it was irritating and also showed up in the prior book. ) 3 people found this helpful

I have read all of Reece’s books and I’m astounded how she has managed to keep her high standards of writing and storytelling in each of her books. In the Alpha’s Return, we see fated love come to fruition and the bond of two sisters, who were as different as night and day, strengthen and grow. The superb rendering of the sisters’ complex relationship brought them to life. Killian and Charlotte’s relationship was disturbing until all the facts were brought to light. The complex plot was well...

Solid Plot

I struggled connecting with these characters, I don't know if it's because there was hardly any Walker/Jones chaos to really bring Killian and Charlotte out of their shells or what. I do hope Hayley and Leah get their wolves naturally. There were minor inconsistencies with Killian's eye color here and there. Theo was great and I warmed up to Elodie and Alpha Webster eventually. Killian and Charlotte were wound so tight though that it made them kinda boring unlike all of the other characters in...
