Wren has spent eighteen months running from a shadowy organization that turned her life into a nightmare. She lives by a strict code of isolation, never staying in one place long enough to be caught. But when a massive California wildfire traps her with an elite hotshot crew, she survives the impossible, walking out of the flames completely unscathed. Her survival reveals a truth she cannot hide: she is a dormant wolf shifter, and her secret has just caught up to her.
Brann, the squad boss with eyes that seem to see right through her, is the only one who understands her transformation. He has spent years guarding his own dark secrets, but the moment he smells Wren, his wolf claims her as his fated mate. Trapped together by the fire and the lingering danger, the two are forced into proximity, igniting an intense, undeniable connection that neither can suppress.
If you crave a paranormal romance filled with high-stakes tension, pack dynamics, and the raw intensity of a fated-mates bond, this story delivers. Belle Knight masterfully blends the grit of a firefighter academy setting with the intoxicating pull of shifter lore. It is an addictive, fast-paced read perfect for anyone looking to get lost in a world where passion burns brighter than the fire.

Wren and Brann were the perfect couple to jump back into a shifter series with. The writing was a relaxed read, the banter was hilarious, the moments of WTF were perfectly placed and although I had my suspicions I wasn’t prepared for the actual truth. I loved how things were explained. For example, I’m not a firefighter lady, but the terms were simple and easy to understand. I love Brann! What a man! Such self discipline, such spice! The team had great supporting characters. I can’t wait to...

The Good: Ms. Knight has an amazing way of describing things. I have so many highlights of passages that I adored, including one of the most beautiful, lyrical, descriptor of the fated mate bond I have ever read and I almost exclusively read Fated Mate books. The Not As Good but Not Terrible: (Mild Spoilers Ahead) I struggled with how fast it all was. The FMC had literally about 6 hours of full mental facility with the MMC (if that much) before all the action started happening. I wish I could...

I think the author should have began with the FMC in captivity before she was on the run so the reader would have more insight to the storyline. There were some minor details that annoyed me like the FMC being on the run for 18 months then in other chapters she is referred as being held captive & tested on for 18 months. I can't find where it was ever mentioned how long she was in captivity. Other than a few details like that, I did enjoy the story and am looking forward to Santos' story next....
