First I’m going to start with the dedication because y’all that had me cackling which is good because, whew, these poor characters. To say that they go THROUGH IT would be a vast understatement. I mean literally, as soon as they get through one thing, something else happens. I wanted to reach into the book, wrap them all in bubble wrap, and hide them away for a few days just so they could have a break! Did I read this book in less than 24 hours? While I am enjoying this series, this particular book wasn't my favorite. I felt like Addi made a lot of foolish decisions, simply waltzing right into trouble that could have been avoided. That got old fast. Also, I really think the series should have ended here. The introduction of Clementine, an all new villian, just doesn't fit. It's like she was inserted just to add a 5th book when the story resolved in 4. I might quit here and skip the whole new plot line. ) One person found this helpful

For me rereads are usually great because with how many books I read I can’t remember them in all their glory, but I definitely can remember this series and every book I’ve read of KC’s because I absolutely love her storytelling! )

There was absolutely no reason I can think of to drag this out for another book. Was it a five book contract? Every element of the existing story could have been wrapped up, even though no real explanation was ever given for the collapse of the previous king.
