With Hearts of Flame (Deluxe Limited Edition): A Dark Academia Romantasy Novel of Vampires and Dragons Featuring Stenciled Edges and Illustrated Endpapers (Bloodwing Academy, 4)
Briar Boleyn
by Anne Rice
Reuben Golding is a young, ambitious reporter sent to profile a grand, crumbling mansion on the rugged Northern California coast. He expects a simple assignment, but an encounter with a mysterious, aristocratic woman leads him into a night of unspeakable violence. Attacked by an unseen beast in the shadows of the redwoods, Reuben is bitten, setting off a transformation that defies everything he knows about biology and the soul.
This is a masterclass in the shifter genre, moving far beyond traditional monster lore. Anne Rice reimagines the werewolf myth with her signature gothic elegance, blending high-tech modernity with the primal, visceral hunger of the beast. As Reuben struggles with his new identity, he discovers that this transformation is not merely a curse, but a seductive, metaphysical gift that heightens his senses and blurs the lines between man and predator.
If you are looking for a paranormal romance that prioritizes atmospheric tension and deep philosophical inquiry, this story will captivate you. It is a lush, layered journey into what it means to possess a monstrous power while clinging to human morality. Prepare to be swept away by a haunting, erotic, and deeply imaginative tale that proves the shifter trope can still be reinvented with breathtaking intensity.

A while back I started feeling like I had really missed out back when my friends were always devouring the latest Anne Rice novels, and I decided I would pick one out and and see where it took me. Moments later, a post from a friend on Facebook alerted me to the fact that Anne Rice had a new werewolf novel coming out October 15. Perfect! Thank you, Universe! I looked it up on Amazon and saw that it was a sequel. I immediately downloaded the first book. \"The Wolf Gift,\" and dove in. Amazing...

Anne Rice loves to write about the supernatural. For years her stomping ground covered the terrain of vampires, witches, and demons. With a renewed interest in the Catholic Church, she explored the life of Christ and the celestial domain of angels. As with all writers and lovers of truth, as Rice gets to know her inner self and find her God, she kicks around new ideas, fine tuning her own thinking as she ponders civilization's great thinkers while attempting to discover what truly speaks to her...

I am not Anne Rice's number one fan, I have not waited with baited breath for each and every book she has written, as a matter of fact, I have only read Interview with the Vampire. I remember reading interview when it was first published, in it Ann Rice had taken something mythical and brought it into the modern age like no one had ever done or could ever do. Vampires were more believable after interview and I began to see the author as being one of the best I had ever read. Why didn't I...

As someone who’s enjoyed Anne Rice’s books I was looking forward to reading The Wolf Gift, expecting it to like it as much as her previous books. Unfortunately, the book left me disappointed. It didn’t enthrall me the way I had hoped it would. The story was average and at times boring. The characters were good but nothing extraordinary. The one thing I can positively say about the book was Rice’s writing and how it was both beautiful yet disturbingly horrific. It’s safe to say that the writing...

I have been a long time fan of Ms. Rice. I had some reservations about reading The Wolf Gift because of her shift away from writing in the paranormal world. Let's face it Anne Rice is the Mother of all vampires. That is a pretty high standard to hold. I reluctantly purchased this book when it was on sale. I am happy to report, that in true Anne Rice form, I was sucked right into the story from page one. It has been so long since I have read an Anne Rice book. (Think the last of her vampire...
