With Hearts of Flame (Deluxe Limited Edition): A Dark Academia Romantasy Novel of Vampires and Dragons Featuring Stenciled Edges and Illustrated Endpapers (Bloodwing Academy, 4)
Briar Boleyn
by Heather K. Carson
The apocalypse is hard enough without an uninvited guest claiming your home as his own. When a sudden societal collapse forces a group of friends to retreat to a secluded ranch, the last thing they expect is a standoff with an infuriatingly gorgeous stranger. Kieran is brooding, possessive, and entirely too confident, but he harbors a secret far more dangerous than the government officials he seems to be running from. He is a dragon shifter, and he is convinced that he and the ranch owner are bound by fate.
This sizzling paranormal romance masterfully blends high-stakes survival with the irresistible tension of a grumpy-sunshine dynamic. As the world burns outside their fences, the heat between these two characters threatens to consume them both. It is a slow-burn journey where the sparks fly as fast as the tempers, anchored by a rich, dystopian setting that feels both fresh and thrillingly chaotic.
If you crave mature, character-driven narratives featuring strong friendships, fated mates, and a touch of mythical intensity, this series is your next obsession. With sharp wit and steamy encounters, it delivers the perfect balance of small-town charm and supernatural danger. Prepare to be hooked—just don’t expect to look at a thunderstorm the same way again.

From page one, Heather Carson throws you headfirst into a dystopian, dragon-filled world, and it's exactly the kind of soapy, tropey chaos I love. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Chocolate and cheap wine wouldn’t fix the apocalypse, but they could sure make it more palatable. Ember and Kieran have immediate chemistry, the tension builds just right, and the blend of action, drama, and romance is well-balanced. Think post-apocalyptic political unrest meets enemies-to-lovers with claws and fire. 🔥🐉 The worldbuilding...

I’m a good fan of dragon books, and this was a good one. It mixes survival, romance, and some politics in a nice way. The whole vibe of the story kept me hooked, and the world-building is fresh and well done. A few info dumps and an abrupt cliff hanger were a bit boring, but I still finished wanting to read the next book. If you like post apocalyptic fantasy with heart, you will like this one. ) 3 people found this helpful

I had to double check at the end as I couldn’t believe the book was ending!! So glad I already have the second book as will immediately start it. This treasure starts out with a bit of history for the characters that you are going to need to know and then Kieran and Ember meet and this story cuts lose on a whole different level and does not let up!! I love the way Heather Carson sucks you into a story and refuses to let you go !! I’m off to find out what happens now!!! ) One person found this...

This is the story where the Earth is having major problems. It is apocalyptic times plus spotty WiFi connectivity. Ember has finally convinced her BFFs to leave the city and go to her dad’s farm hidden in the country. Lo and behold when the ladies arrive, the farm has been transformed into Kieran’s home now. Ember was not having that. This is Ember and Kieran’s love - mate journey. The end was abrupt with a partial happy ending. Lucan and Riley look to be the next mated pair from the epilogue....
