At forty-five, Vivian feels like her life is unraveling. Between a crumbling professional reputation, a strained relationship with her ex-husband, and the crushing weight of expectations, she is desperate for an escape. A midnight gas station run for cheap wine is meant to be a simple distraction, but a brush with a deadly criminal operation catapults her into a world she never knew existed.
Enter Marquis, a mysterious, lethal stranger who saves her life and awakens a dormant fire within her. What begins as a fleeting, passionate encounter quickly evolves into an intense power struggle. Marquis is not just a man, and he has no intention of letting Vivian walk away. Caught between her grounded reality and a supernatural pull she cannot ignore, Vivian must navigate a high-stakes enemies-to-lovers dynamic that challenges everything she thought she knew about desire.
This gripping paranormal romance masterfully blends a slow-burn tension with explosive, spicy chemistry. As a second-chance narrative for a heroine who has seen it all, the story explores whether love can truly conquer the divide between mortality and eternity. If you are looking for a mature, emotional, and pulse-pounding read, prepare to be swept into a dark, seductive world where forever is just the beginning.

I absolutely loved this book. The slow burn was done in such a satisfying way that it never felt like it was dragging. It felt intentional. Even though you go into it knowing it’s a vampire romance, Melody still keeps the reveal close to her chest and delivers it at exactly the right moment. That buildup? Worth it. It made everything land so much harder when the truth finally came out. What really stood out to me, though, was how grounded the story felt. I felt like I genuinely got to know the...

I love paranormal books and romance so this book was a give in for me. It was a sweet story. Relatable being that I'm a soon to be 45 year old mother that's dealt with a broken marriage and trying to find myself. I'm still discovering parts of me and unlike Vivian, I haven't met my young vampire (yet). LOL! So I understood her feelings and struggles and doubts. I thought it was sweet that Marquis handled her with such care and consideration. Despite their hard times, he remained respectful. If...

This book was filled with action and lots of Drama...l.ol The main character struggled with heartache đź’” and disrespect from employees. I am a fan of Melody Lynch she does not disappoint with her writing the characters are always worth getting to know their stories. )

This book had so much potential. It was refreshing from the books I normally read, but the author just didn’t bring the story into full circle for me. Everything was surface level not enough character depth or development. I would’ve loved to know more about the conflict between brothers or a little more about the relationship w. Natalia. Overall the book was a decent read but I wouldn’t reread or recommend. ) One person found this helpful

First of all, Melody Lynch can do no wrong. Second, I love an older woman / younger man romance… even if the younger man is a vampire. Vivian is 45, stressed out, and having one of those nights where life is just lifing. She has on a moo moo, and a satin bonnet, and runs to a gas station for a bottle of cheap wine… and somehow ends up stumbling into danger. Enter Marquis. Tall. Dangerous. Persistent. And, of course, that BDE. When I tell you this man had zero cares that Vivian showed up in a...
