Blood So Brutal: Golden City, Book 2

by Emily Blackwood

About this book

Huntyr finally breached the gates of the Golden City, but her sanctuary is a lie. Instead of the promised utopia, she finds a decaying nightmare ruled by a sadistic archangel intent on weaponizing her untapped magic. Forced into a marriage with Wolf—the man she despises above all others—Huntyr is trapped in a deadly game of political manipulation where her heritage is the ultimate prize.

This dark paranormal romance thrives on tension, pushing the boundaries of loyalty and survival. As a fighter who refuses to be broken by the betrayals of her past, Huntyr must navigate a treacherous landscape of shifting alliances. Wolf, meanwhile, is forced to watch his obsession suffer under the archangel’s thumb, his possessiveness simmering beneath the surface as he vows to protect what he considers his, regardless of her hatred for him.

Filled with shocking plot twists and a relentless slow-burn dynamic, the story explores the cost of power and the weight of ancestral sins. As families fracture and new truths emerge, Huntyr and Wolf must decide if they can bridge the chasm between them to survive the coming war. If you crave intense, high-stakes vampire romance, this duet delivers a brutal, heart-pounding conclusion where blood runs deeper than any betrayal.

Huntyr is a fighter and will not let her experiences of betrayal and lies at Moria Seminary break her. However, learning the truth about the Golden City, Wolf’s ulterior motives and her own lineage and truth, may be more than even she can take. The fact that Huntyr has been lied to by everyone her entire life drives home the lesson she should never have trusted anyone in the first place. No matter how his Huntress feels about him, Wolf will still do anything to keep her safe. As Wolf’s father,...

LOVED it!

In book two of the Golden City we continue to follow Huntyr and Wolf as they enter the Golden city to see it is NOTHING like Huntyr imagined it would be. In addition to finding out the true nature of the vampyres and hungry ones, she also has to deal with unknowns and betrayals- not to mention her own destiny. The twists and turns in this one were everywhere. Huntyr’s storyline was tumultuous and full of heartache as well. Not to mention Wolf’s own struggles with his choices as well as things...

Still missed the mark

*SPOILERS* While the general idea of this was interesting while still taking from other books, it needed more just like the first book. There was way too much inner dialogue and not much actual depth to anything. I still did not have much connection to any of the characters or really know them well besides being generic cutouts. Characters motivations seemed to change willy nilly as well with the fmc hating the mmc to suddenly he was the only person she could trust. While he made promises and...

Blood So Brutal Author: Emily Blackwood ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 🌶️🌶️🌶️/5 “Choose me” Thank goodness I read the first book close to the sequel’s release because with the way the first one ended? I wouldn’t know what to do with myself. This series is perfection. The world-building Emily does from start to middle to end is dynamic and keeps you on your toes, literally. Just when you think everything’s good, a twist comes in and you’re for another ride. I didn’t want the book to end! And perhaps it hasn’t?...
