Blue Moon: An Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter Novel

by Laurell K. Hamilton

About this book

Anita Blake is a professional executioner and necromancer who usually navigates the supernatural underbelly of St. Louis with cold precision. However, when her former lover, Richard, is slapped with a disturbing criminal charge in the small town of Myerton, Tennessee, she is pulled away from her duties to investigate. As she delves into the case, she discovers that the local pack dynamics are far more sinister than a simple crime, forcing her to confront a conspiracy rooted in the dangerous politics of lycanthropy.

This installment in the long-running paranormal romance series leans heavily into the tension between duty and desire. While the narrative is famous for its gritty, vampire-centric world-building, it introduces a more vulnerable side to Anita as she navigates the complexities of her human-supernatural relationships. The story artfully employs the academy trope, as the intricacies of werewolf pack hierarchy and training grounds become a central stage for the conflict.

If you are looking for a pulse-pounding mystery filled with shifting alliances, intense emotional stakes, and a touch of dark romance, this is the perfect addition to your reading list. It remains a fan-favorite for those who love high-stakes supernatural drama where the line between hunter and hunted constantly blurs.

BLUE MOON Introduces A More Vulnerable Anita Blake-Terrific!

February 9, 2005

Anita Blake, Executioner, necromancer, lover and human servant to Jean-Claude - the charismatic Master Vampire of St. Louis, lupa of the Thronnus Roke Clan lukoi, and Nimir-ra of a pard of leopard lycanthropes, is changing...more so all the time. When Laurell Hamilton introduced her to us in \"Guilty Pleasures,\" Book One of the Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series, she was a 24 year-old, smart, attractive, feisty, super-independent dynamo, who raised the dead for a living. She was almost a normal...

Let's clarify a few things here...

I've read most of these reviews and noticed something significant. Most of the bad reviews are generated by the reader's distaste of Richard, annoyance at \"romance\", or a general preference for vampires and/or Jean-Claude. None of these reasons address whether or not it's a good book. I've re-read this book at least 5 times. There are so many layers here, that I, for one, think that Hamilton did an exceptional job of bringing it all together. As with all the books, bad guys abound and the...

What the.........getting truly disappointed, but can't actually skip this book.

I gave it four stars not because the book was good, but because it was entertaining. I have been crash reading Anita Blake and fell in love with the early books. Cops who-done-it, humor, flirting, lavish descriptions of nudities, zombies, vampires, werewolves, fae and a jilted female human character in the mist of it all trying to find her own way in this mess. I couldn't wait to see what new baddie type they would bring with this book. It's the introduction of baddies that make each book a...

Love this series )

Of course it's good!

September 9, 2018

No need to go into super detail - if you are looking this book up, it's because you just finished or are about to finish the one that comes right before it in the series and you are just as hooked as the rest of us! Get it! It's just as good! You have several moments of \"YES eat that sucka\" and a few moments of \"what was he thinking? what is he doing?\" and of course there are always moments of \"OMG is Anita going to die?\" That's where I will leave it for you. Like a worm on a hook. I will...
