Court of Nightmares (Courts and Kings)

by K.A Knight

About this book

Born to fulfill a rigid prophecy, Althea has spent her entire existence as the perfect vampyr, following every rule laid out for her. However, her carefully constructed world collapses when she is cruelly rejected by her fated mate. Shattered and desperate, she flees the only life she has ever known, plunging into the darkness to escape the agony of a broken heart.

This gripping dark romance reimagines vampire lore with a daring, innovative edge. As Althea retreats into the shadows, she finds herself drawn into the Court of Nightmares, a realm where the monsters are far more alluring than the kings who cast her aside. Here, she discovers that rejection is merely the catalyst for a dangerous transformation, leading her into the arms of men who embrace her wicked potential rather than stifle it.

For readers seeking a paranormal romance that leans into obsession, intense chemistry, and high-stakes power dynamics, this story offers a fresh, indulgent escape. While the narrative is packed with high-octane spice and a devoted praise kink, it is the original world-building and the visceral evolution of the protagonist that make this an unforgettable read. Step into the shadows, where the nightmares are just the beginning.

My all time favorite book!

June 25, 2025

I've purchased this book since the first time I read this book and it has become my favorite fantasy novel since the first read-through. ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– The book follows Althea, who is a vampyr with a rejected mate. After her mate rejected her, she went off the deep end and began a killing spree of humans that she didn't realize at the time were criminals and the like. Most vampyrs in this universe can only feed from each other once they become fated mates and the...

Definitely a new take on vampires. Very original and imaginative. I actually liked a lot of the new twists Knight put on her vampires. It was interesting and innovative. The world building is nice. We really get a look into how the vampires world works. I do think there could have been more interaction with the humans and other supernatural creatures. There is no way the humans wouldn't have had some type of involvement with all the deaths of humans. The personal accountability is a good...

The beginning and the end

Good overall but you have to get past the repetition. Lots of repetitive sex and praise. Spice is great and so is a good praise kink but maybe because there are so many men it gets repetitive rather than expressive of any character or plot growth. I literally started skimming and almost didn’t finish. Strangely, on the other side, there isn’t much on the use of power or hunting or growth of the community. One big show. It would have been nice to see growth in that department. We get to see her...

Mesmerized!

This book had me hooked from the very beginning! I couldn’t read it fast enough. I stayed up way too late and started reading it again before my alarm even went off. Althea is incredible! A true Queen! And all the guys, the Kings! Omg I wish I was apart of the Court of Nightmares too. I loved how they all interacted and how they all truly loved and supported each other through everything. That’s not even touching on all the spicy scenes! Omg the spice level was insane and hot hot hot. I wasn’t...

*re-emerges into society*

Y’all. I have tried a few other K.A. Knight books, but sadly none of them captivated me like DoV did. But when Katie started posting teasers and art for this book, I had this inkling that I would love it, so I read the sample and bought it right away. Needless to say, I was right. (Super nifty when that happens.) This book was so immersive, engaging, and top-tier spicy. I loved each of the characters, including every single supporting one (looking at you, Si, Elias, D, and inhabitants of you...
