Dark Desires After Dusk

by Kresley Cole

About this book

Cadeon Woede is a lethal demon mercenary defined by a haunting past and a desperate need for redemption. When his quest leads him to Holly Ashwin, a sheltered halfling who has no idea she belongs to a world of monsters, he intends to use her as a mere tool to secure his salvation. However, the icy walls around his heart begin to crumble as he finds himself inexplicably drawn to the very woman he meant to sacrifice.

This installment of the Immortals After Dark series is a masterclass in dark romance and high-stakes urban fantasy. As Holly is thrust into a dangerous landscape of myth and power, she discovers that her captor is also her most fervent protector. Their chemistry is explosive, fueled by the tension of a forbidden connection that challenges the boundaries of loyalty and morality.

Perfect for fans of Sarah J. Maas, this story balances adrenaline-pumping action with intense, steamy intimacy. Whether you are a longtime devotee of the series or a newcomer seeking a paranormal thrill, this journey of redemption and discovery is impossible to put down. Prepare to surrender to a world where ancient legends collide with modern desires, leaving you breathless until the very last page.

Nice mix of action and romance. Good plot and character development. 1 Star off for the obvious ending. Still quick and enjoyable. )

I have been reading romance novels since I was 15, so a good 20 years now. In my mind nothing like a cup of tea and a good romance novel to escape and unwind at the end of a day. Just to give a sample of my taste, other authors I enjoy are: Jen Holling, Connie Brockway, Johanna Lindsey, Julie Garwood, Christina Dodd, just to name a few. This entire series is such a page turner. I had a hard time putting any of the titles down. More evenings than I care to admit I stayed up way to late \"just to...

Great Scott! She's done it again!

I loved this book! I loved all of Ms Cole's IAD books... what I like about her Loreverse is that there are so many different combinations of species she could come up with to keep her series fresh and interesting. Other series tend to stagnate after the first four or five books because it becomes the same old same old (oh look another vampire/human combo... or vampire/vampire. Meh, it gets really old after a while)but with IAD she switches her couple combos up and it keeps her stories fun,...

Mayhem and Humor

April 25, 2026

Fun road-trip romance with great conflict, sizzling tension and juicy love scenes, and some good chuckles. Cade and Holly are fated-mate opposites, which makes for some humor amid the mayhem. Holly is plagued with OCD, while Cade is, well, a demon, mercenary, and very messy bachelor. Of course, the fate of kingdoms, even the entire Lore is at stake. Sure you could read this as a stand-alone, but since characters and relationships grow throughout the series, you’ll likely want to start at the...
