Dead In the Family: Sookie Stackhouse Southern Vampire Mystery #10

by Charlaine Harris

About this book

Sookie Stackhouse is finally settling into life with her vampire lover, Eric Northman, but peace remains a foreign concept in the humid heat of Bon Temps. Still reeling from the harrowing trauma of the Fairy War, Sookie finds her domestic bliss interrupted by a parade of unwanted visitors. From long-lost kin surfacing to demand her attention to the arrival of Eric’s terrifying sire, her sanctuary is under siege. As she navigates these complex blood ties, she is dragged into a dangerous favor for the local werewolf pack that threatens to shatter the fragile stability she has worked so hard to build.

This tenth installment of the Southern Vampire Mystery series masterfully leans into the found-family trope, exploring how Sookie’s unconventional circle of supernatural outcasts acts as her only true line of defense. As she grapples with the fallout of being a turned-newborn’s reluctant ally and the constant threat of those who view her as a pawn, the stakes reach a fever pitch.

Perfect for fans of paranormal romance who crave high-stakes tension, this entry offers a raw look at the evolution of Sookie and Eric’s relationship. It is a gripping, atmospheric read that proves in Louisiana, blood is always thicker—and far more dangerous—than water.

Wow! What a picture this book paints!

January 23, 2011

I've been wondering all the previous books what Eric/Sookie relationship would be like and I got more then I bargained for. I just finished the book, so I'd like to mention the strange ending - I can just see Eric's perception if he walks into Sookie's bedroom to find her sleeping on the bed with two male full blown fairies. That's a little weird, and has some interesting sexual connotations if you ask me. I don't think the whole \"cousin\" \"grandfather\" thing really means as much to fairies...

Newest Entry is a Winner

If you're reading this, you probably know the plot of Dead in the Family, at least generally: Sookie's still with Eric (thank God!), the Weres are still having problems adjusting to being \"out\", and Sookie's fairy cousin Claude has come for a visit...or rather, to move in with Sookie. When a fresh body turns up on Sookie's property, things take an uneasy turn as it seems someone is setting Sookie up; meanwhile, Eric's maker shows up in Bon Temps, pulling Eric out of Sookie's life and...

Good addition, not a favorite though

So, this is another review where my thoughts were so scattered in the wake of reading that I had to use sub-headings. The following review is pretty spoiler-free if you haven't yet read 'Dead in the Family' - but there are **SPOILERS** if you haven't read books 1 - 9. *****Sookie VS. Fan Expectation***** I love Charlaine Harris, and I especially love her `Southern Vampire; Sookie Stackhouse' series. I discovered these books around the same time that I read the first `Twilight'. After reading...

Sookie is BACK!!!

May 6, 2010

Hold your hats and pay attention!!! Sookie is back and I loved it. This is not as humorous, or trivial as most of the other books. This one is seriously good, with a great mystery to boot. I am sorry if people don't like her being tied to Eric, I just let the book carry me to a place I like to visit and see people who have become friends. I read it in one sitting and was very sorry to get to the last page. This series gets better and better, the last one was not as good as I thought it should...

Sookie, Sookie, Sookie...

April 21, 2011

\"Dead in The Family\" isn't a bad book. It was fun to visit and catch up with Sookie and Eric...and Bill had a nice little plot going on. Unfortunately it was all little plots, nothing really moved the story arc forward. I didn't find the story to be boring as some have mentioned in their reviews but I also didn't find anything really important happened. In this book: -Sookie and Claude the fairy get better aquainted. -In one of the best parts of the book, Sookie gets to know Hunter,...
