Dracula, My Love: A Gothic Paranormal Romance – Mina Harker's Forbidden Victorian Passion

by Syrie James

About this book

Step into a haunting reimagining of Victorian London where the boundaries between terror and desire dissolve. Mina Harker, the virtuous heroine of Bram Stoker’s classic, finds her life irrevocably altered when she becomes the object of an intense, otherworldly obsession. As she struggles to maintain the sanctity of her marriage to Jonathan, she is pulled into a clandestine affair with the most dangerous creature to ever walk the night.

This gripping gothic paranormal romance breathes new life into a legendary antagonist, transforming the monster of folklore into a charismatic, intellectual, and deeply romantic figure. As Mina uncovers the truth behind his immortality, she experiences a profound sexual rebirth that challenges everything she thought she knew about love and morality. Caught between the safety of her human life and the intoxicating pull of the shadows, she must decide if surrendering to this forbidden love is an act of liberation or ultimate madness.

Perfect for readers who crave the tropes of forbidden love and the transformation of a turned-newborn, this novel offers a fresh, intelligent perspective on a timeless legend. Prepare to be seduced by a narrative that is as intellectually stimulating as it is pulse-pounding, proving that even the darkest hearts have a story worth telling.

Great little twist on a classic

June 27, 2022

I really loved reading this on the train to New Orleans (it helped me feel immersed since in the book they're on trains quite a bit) and the book kept me on the edge of my seat. The original Dracula isn't retconned or changed, everything happens just as it does in the classic novel. You just, as the reader, get to see a different perspective from Mina's point of view as she keeps a secret. It's a tricky ask and it could be poorly done in the wrong writers hands - but this one is such a great...

Kept me engaged from beginning to end!

There are several books available that tell the story of Dracula from Mina Harker's perspective, but none have been as intelligent nor come close to the original as Syrie James' novel. \"Dracula, My Love\" is an account of Bram Stoker's Dracula seen through the eyes Mina Harker. As in the original novel, the narrative is given from the journals of Mina and Jonathan. Mina, however, keeps a more shocking and intensely romantic journal in secret shorthand, free from the prying eyes of those who...

Best Companion Novel to Stoker's Original

December 19, 2010

I read Stoker's Dracula when I was in 7th grade--too long ago for me to count the years--and am somewhat embarrassed to admit even at that tender age I was captivated by Dracula's power & sensuality and not convinced of his innate evil. I always imagined the \"alternate\" version of Stoker's story--more romantic, more \"human\" and driven by love. Well, with the exception of the overly fanciful reference to vampirism's biblical origins and the fact that in adhering to Stoker's characterizations...

Really good book that kept me engrossed, but the ending?

October 21, 2020

It almost feels wrong to give this book only 3 stars because I really enjoyed it and it kept me wanting to read more. I really enjoy the author's way of writing and it felt very authentic to the original novel. However, my main issue is with the ending which almost ruins the book to me. I feel like the decisions made were very out of character and it was just disappointing. I don't quite understand Mina at the end of the book and I finished it feeling very dissatisfied. ) 2 people found this...
