Crispinus Delacort is a homicide detective who knows exactly how to handle a crime scene, but he is completely unprepared for the sudden discovery of human bones in a quiet residential garden. As an immortal rogue enforcer, he is used to tracking down dangerous threats, yet his latest case brings a complication he never anticipated: his fated mate. When he arrives to investigate the burial site, he finds himself instantly captivated by Abril Newman, the woman house-sitting the property where the grim discovery was made.
Abril was only looking for a quiet few days of work, not a murder mystery involving a rogue immortal. As the investigation deepens, the chemistry between her and Crispin becomes impossible to ignore. Despite the surrounding danger and the grisly evidence emerging from the dirt, their undeniable connection burns bright, turning a standard police inquiry into a high-stakes race against time.
This latest installment in the beloved Argeneau series blends urban fantasy with sizzling paranormal romance, offering the perfect escape for fans of the genre. With a gripping mystery, witty dialogue, and an intense, instant attraction, Crispin and Abril’s story is a fast-paced, addictive read that proves even the most seasoned enforcer can be blindsided by love.

Okay, what is up with the title extension? This doesn't take place on or around Halloween. That's just weird. So, I'm not sure how I feel about this story. The plot is very intriguing, I enjoyed Abril & Crispin, and I LOVE Lucian, so any time he guest stars, I'm a happy camper. And there are some excellent Lucian scenes! The story itself, however... wth? We get a lot of good back story for Abril, but I didn't feel like we (or Abril, really) got to know Crispin at all. The longest conversation...

Abril is house sitting for her boss, when the excavation for a new patio is stopped. Her boss' dog Lillith then digs up human bones in the excavation site. Crispin is an immortal and a homicide detective, so he is sent to investigate this along with his immortal partner. But how can Crispin investigate, when Abril is so tempting of distracting? Read this to find out! The pace is breakneck and the tone is intense with an action and character oriented storyline that has some steamy scenes. The...

Like all of the Argeneau Novels the storyline was excellent. It was intriguing, and was hard to put down. Great interaction with the characters. Definitely had romance and humor off the charts. I don't know how this author manages to have each of the novels totally different but familiar in a good way. I loved this book. I recommend it and the entire series. ) One person found this helpful

I love this series, but I feel like the last couple of books have just been rambling along. Story lines have gone a little stagnant. ) 2 people found this helpful
