Narcissus in Chains: An Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter Novel

by Laurell K. Hamilton

About this book

Anita Blake returns in a darker, more intense chapter of her supernatural saga, pushing the boundaries of her humanity further than ever before. As a seasoned vampire hunter, Anita has spent years navigating a world of blood and shadows, but the tenth installment in this gripping paranormal series marks a definitive shift in her journey. The lines between predator and prey continue to blur as she grapples with shifting loyalties, complex power dynamics, and the heavy burden of her own evolving nature.

Fans of the series will find this entry a pivotal turning point, as Anita moves past the agonizing moral dilemmas that once defined her. The narrative leans heavily into the erotic tension and intricate world-building that define the genre, introducing new dynamics that challenge her long-standing relationship with Richard. With the arrival of the captivating Micah, the stakes are raised, forcing Anita to confront her desires and the dangerous allure of her own growing influence within the vampire hierarchy.

This is not a story for the faint of heart or the uninitiated; it is a visceral, high-stakes exploration of power and identity. If you crave a paranormal romance that balances brutal action with deep, character-driven obsession, this installment offers a raw, unforgettable experience that resets the status quo of the Anitaverse.

So long dear Richard and welcome Micah!!!

April 29, 2012

I am totally pleased with this book. I think it's safe to say this has been the best book so far. I was getting tired of Anita's guilt and morals, so tired that I wanted to get inside the book and slap her around lol but God bless the \"ardeur\". This book was so different, I enjoyed every minute of it, I couldn't put it down. First of all, the new and improved Richard at the beginning of the book after months of not seeing Anita and all the trials he had to endure as Ulfric it was obvious he...

Moving on

As a HUGE fan of the Anita Blake series (and a voracious consumer of vampire literature in all its guises), I had been anxiously awaiting this 10th in the series, especially after \"Obsidian Butterfly\" took Anita so far afield with only Edward for familiar companionship; unlike Anita's previous trips to Tennessee and Branson, Missouri wherein she travelled within something of a paranormal entourage. And I was SO not disappointed! This, in my opinion, was the best of the Anita Blake books yet....

Anita Blake Newbies, Start With \"Guilty Pleasuers\" First!

This is a revised review (because I re-read the book and my opinion changed slightly). This is definitely not the book to read to introduce yourself to Anita Blake's universe (Anitaverse). Without knowing the background of the characters, a new reader would be totally lost. Knowing the background of the characters and the prior storyline adds so much to this book. I would definitely recommend reading this series in order, starting with the first book, \"Guilty Pleasures\". Having said that,...

Anita

Anita's world goes from zero to chaos when her nemesis decides to play a surprise game of confrontation, while her love life with Jean-Claude and Richard turns into a melodramatic soap opera that would make even daytime television blush. )

The story continues

Each book contains near death experience for Anita, her denial and her relationships. Although the premise is thee same, the story itself is different and very entertaining. I have enjoyed the series and I also like the new sex scenes. However, I am so tired of Anita saying she cares for jean-claude but does not trust him or accept him. She knows what the aduer is like, but she does not want him to feed from her? Yet, others are suppose to feed her. She will not even let him feed from her for...
