Bound and Unbound: A paranormal novella duology

Silicon Valley is a place where ambition knows no bounds, but for one brilliant biotech entrepreneur, the pursuit of progress leads to a discovery far deadlier than any corporate scandal. When he uncovers the truth behind a high-stakes cover-up, he is thrust into a hidden reality where ancient predators have walked among us all along. This is not a world of romanticized folklore; it is a brutal, visceral landscape where humanity has suddenly realized it is no longer the apex hunter.
As the lines between scientific innovation and supernatural terror blur, the protagonist finds himself caught in a dark-romance dynamic that challenges his morality and his survival. Forced into a harrowing transformation, he must navigate the complex hierarchy of the undead as a turned-newborn. Every choice becomes a dangerous game of power, testing exactly how much of his humanity he is willing to sacrifice to navigate a world that views him as nothing more than prey.
Set within the chilling Midnight World, this fast-paced thriller strips away the glamour of the vampire genre to reveal a gritty, philosophical struggle. If you are looking for a story where the stakes are life-and-death and the shadows hold real, teeth-baring consequences, this is your next obsession.

A well told tale that kept a good pace. The story did not lag at any point by going off into the weeds. The Devil’s bargain is made to look innocuous and reasonable, and Day does well to keep some things hidden. ) 3 people found this helpful

Out of the Shadows introduces a new and intriguing take on the vampire mythos in a contemporary setting. The character development progresses nicely through the novel and the pacing is excellent. Overall a great read and an interesting prequel to the Midnight War stories. )

Mr. Day is in perfect command of his materials. The prose is deceptively easy, but loads of nuance are in there. He gives realistic character to both humans and vampires, and he is sharp on how women can be. A splendid yarn! ) One person found this helpful

It was interesting reading this right after finishing the original Dracula for the first time. I could not put this down and finished it in a single weekend. The characters were engaging and there were many points where you are sort of rooting for the vampires to succeed and have to remind yourself, wait they’re not the “good guys.” Added some interesting perspectives to the typical vampire mythology with some chilling modern parallels when you stop to think through the implications. )
