Mystic Brews & Malice (Magical Teashop Mysteries Book 2)

by Karen McSpade

About this book

Midlife is supposed to be about settling down, but for Samara Snow, it is just the beginning of a dangerous new chapter. After opening a magical teashop in the quaint coastal town of Winter Haven, she is finally finding her footing among a quirky found-family of locals. However, her attempt at a peaceful life—and a slow-burn romance with the rugged fisherman Jack Andrews—is shattered when a romantic sailing trip turns into a race against a lethal legend.

When a sudden storm forces them to discover a luxury yacht carrying a corpse, Samara realizes the town’s local myths about Eastdare Island are far more than just fireside ghost stories. Armed with her elemental magic, a sassy familiar named Pumpkin, and a tenacious knitting circle, she must navigate the boundary between folklore and cold-blooded murder.

This paranormal cozy mystery perfectly blends high-stakes supernatural suspense with the cozy warmth of a New England seaside retreat. As the threats mount and the secrets of the tide begin to surface, Samara must decide how much she is willing to risk to protect those she loves. If you crave atmospheric tales filled with witchy charm, unexpected twists, and an irresistible romance, this spellbinding mystery is your next must-read.

Jack takes Samura to a local island for a romantic picnic. The weather turns bad, and they have to leave early. Then they spot a yacht among the rocks. There is a dead body on board. A siren is luring some residents of Winter Haven to a watery death. She even manages to call Pumpkin, and Samura has to stop him from leaping off a cliff! The town is holding an election for a new mayor, and Samura's elderly friend Jean throws her hat in the ring. This book is fast paced, with great characters. I...

Even Fish Should Avoid Eastdare Island

Well, there were a couple of twists in this novel that I didn't see coming; but then, I doubt anyone else would either. The setting in a New England coastal community lends itself to a comparison: Salem Witch Trials Meet the Golden Girls. Samara Snow is a \"midlife\" witch who thought she wanted peace and quiet, but discovers a need for a bit of excitement. She, like the \"Runaway Bride\", has a habit of leaving when the pressure seems too much. But maybe, just maybe, her new teashop and the...

Mystery, magic, and small town setting

Mystic Brews and Malice is the perfect entertaining book. It has a mixture of cozy mystery that lends intrigue and interest to it, while also having a little budding sweet romance, too. The characters are very well developed, likeable, and entertaining. The plot moves quickly, but not so quickly that you get lost. The magic keeps the mystery twisting and turning until the very end. I highly recommend this book if you enjoy mystery, magic, and sweet romance. )

A song of death.

Samara Snow does not intentionally advertise that she is a witch, but helping with a previous murder case revealed her to Jack Andrews, the fisherman, who is making her reconsider relationships. Their first date goes horribly wrong. Jack hears an alluring song as the boat sails to the island, where they find a beached yacht with a dead man on board. More reports of odd behavior come to light, and the body count rises. Samara and her familiar, Pumpkin, begin to wonder if the old legends about...
