The Scandalous Confessions of Lydia Bennet, Witch

by Melinda Taub

About this book

Forget everything you thought you knew about the youngest Bennet sister. While history remembers Lydia as the reckless girl who scandalized Meryton, the truth is far more magical. Between her mother’s histrionics and the stifling pressure of a patriarchal estate, Lydia has been hiding a dangerous secret: she is a witch. And in a world where Mr. Darcy’s obsession with propriety is matched only by his deep-seated prejudice against the supernatural, her gifts are a liability she cannot afford to reveal.

This imaginative urban fantasy breathes new life into a beloved classic, peeling back the layers of Regency-era social climbing to reveal a hidden world of demons, enchantments, and high-stakes stakes. When Lydia discovers that George Wickham is more than just a charming rake—he is a literal demon—she is forced to stop playing the fool and start embracing her dormant power.

Perfect for fans of atmospheric academy settings and enemies-to-lovers tension, this story offers a brilliant redemption arc for literature’s most misunderstood wild child. If you are looking for a paranormal romance that balances biting wit with genuine heart, prepare to be charmed. Lydia is finally ready to tell her side of the story, and the results are nothing short of spellbinding.

Brilliant

This was entertaining and well-written! I enjoyed seeing Lydia from a new perspective. It flipped the idea of Lydia as the “bad” sister, and gave her some much appreciated depth. ) 3 people found this helpful

A sweet, fun, breezy read!

I've always been a sucker for Pride and Prejudice retellings, reimaginings, etc. And this book continues the streak! I love the takes on minor characters and the twist of fantasy world set so well hidden in the real world. Highly recommend! )

Loved loved this book!!!

I have always loved p&p; and do have a certain fondness for Lydia Bennett. Outrageous and not particularly clever still she always deserved a little compassion. In this book Lydia finally comes into her own. How clever and original to make her a witch and Kitty who is a real cat her sister. Highly recommended!!! ) 3 people found this helpful

Had potential but just fell a little flat

I really wanted to love this as I am a huge fan of pride and prejudice and witchy stories, but this fell a little flat for me. I did really enjoy the fact that Kitty was an actual cat and Lydia's familiar. I also really enjoyed the humor throughout. However, the story itself just didnt flow that well and I struggled to finish it. )

A Completely Different P&P Variation in the Best Way

I could not get enough of this book and am sad it isn’t a series. It wasn’t predictable and had lots of new elements I am not used to in Jane Austen variations. I fell in love with the characters, even Miss Lydia Bennet herself. Read it! It’s worth it. ) 6 people found this helpful
