And So The Breaking Begins: Mindbreaker Duet, Book 1 (An Age of War and Prophecy 3)

by Ella Summers
Leda Pierce’s journey from a frontier soldier to an elite warrior of the Legion of Angels has been nothing short of legendary. Now, living in New York with her angel lover, she stands on the precipice of her greatest transformation yet: becoming an angel herself. But in this high-stakes urban fantasy, destiny is rarely a straight line. A disastrous promotion ceremony leaves her powers in dangerous limbo, stripping away the very abilities she needs to survive.
The stakes escalate when the gods descend to personally oversee training at Crystal Falls. For Leda, this isn't just an academy setting; it is a lethal game of shadows. As the gods impose impossible challenges, a sinister force begins weaponizing these trials to unearth the deepest, darkest secrets of the participants. With her own past threatening to surface, Leda knows that one wrong move—or one revealed skeleton in her closet—will result in her immediate execution.
For fans of paranormal romance who crave complex world-building and royal intrigue, this installment shifts the series into higher gear. Expect a darker, more intense narrative where the gods’ whims dictate the fate of mortals. If you love high-stakes academy tropes and slow-burn romance, this journey is your next obsession.

This series just got real. There has been 6 books before this and we've gotten use to a certain pacing with the books. We have expectations about how things will go down. Those all got blown up in this book when the God's decided to take over the Crystal Falls training. The rules have gone down the tubes and everyone has become a pawn in the game of Gods and Demons. Soldiers like Leda, Angels like Nero and even other Gods/Demons. No one is immune to their games. It was there in other books on...

I'm a huge fan of Kate Daniels, Charley Davidson, Night Huntress, and a couple of other series that I include in \"The Greats\" category. While waiting for the next installment or in the present case, the next new series, I always keep looking for that hidden gem of a breakout author. Ella Summers books were always entertaining and I found her to be in the leagues of Jaymin Eve and Jasmine Walt, but I feel that this series just upped its game with the latest installment and am really looking...

Things get really complicated with way too many characters to try to keep straight along with different roles for over 14 people plus half a dozen different gods with all of them having there own shameful secrets exposed. All the different plots and characters took a lot of the fun out of reading this one. At least it has some good sex in it but most of that was unfinished teasing and could have been better. Overall it's still a good read and you will need to read it if you plan on staying...

This book was good. Lots of secrets being revealed. It felt like a soap opera reality show with gods & angels. Lots of arguments and displeasures of secrets revealed. Slight angst. More development for Leda on her history and her powers. There were some sweet moments between Nero & Leda, but they weren’t together the whole time. )
