And So The Breaking Begins: Mindbreaker Duet, Book 1 (An Age of War and Prophecy 3)

by K.G. Reuss
Brax has spent centuries clawing his way through the hierarchy of Hell, fueled by ambition and a singular, ironclad goal: to become a crowned prince. Standing on the precipice of ultimate power, he is handed one final, lethal assignment. He must corrupt and claim the soul of Maggie Westbrook, a seventeen-year-old whose pure, celestial essence is the catalyst for the coming apocalypse. For a demon of his standing, it should have been the easiest task of his immortal life.
Instead, Brax finds himself ensnared in a dangerous game where the stakes are far higher than a throne. As he shadows Maggie, he discovers she is a Nephilim, a being of forbidden light who threatens to shatter his resolve and rewrite his destiny. What begins as a cold, calculated mission quickly spirals into a dark romance defined by agonizing choices and soul-searing passion.
This intense paranormal romance forces readers to ask the unthinkable: would you sacrifice everything—even your own soul—for a love that was never meant to be? With its high-stakes tension, royal demonic hierarchy, and a forbidden connection between heaven and hell, this series opener is a visceral, emotionally charged journey that will leave you breathless and desperate for more.

I'm reeling from this book! Wow, what a fascinating twist on angels and demons, paranormal romance, and life vs. death. Would you sacrifice everything for love? Even your soul? Brax is a demon who lives a life of corruption and sin. He loves what he does, embraces who he is, and doesn't apologize for it. Maggie isn't your average girl. She's light where Brax is dark. When the two meet it's one explosive and powerful story. There's a lot of meat to this story and that's what I love. Told...

Wow this was intense! KG Reuss sure knows how to write! My emotions were all over the place. I actually cried! This book is about a demon, Brax, who isn't looking for redemption, but he sure gets it. There are some heavy and dark themes, he does horrible things, but they make his rise so much better. Maggie is a young girl who is abused by her stepfather and she has no idea she is part angel. These two fall in love, but they have so many things working against them. I kept thinking there is no...

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Testimony of the Damned (Emissary of the Devil Book 1) by K.G. Maggie Westbrook a shy, beautiful seventeen-year-old is his latest assignment and one soul away from becoming a crowned prince of hell. She'll end up turning his world upside down. A fantastic, emotional read. A...

While I knew when I purchased this book it was first in a series, it did not state was going to be a cliffhanger. Granted it also didn't say was a standalone, which I prefer. That being said I did enjoy the storyline and the characters are very likeable. I will purchase next book to see how Brax and Maggie are (hopefully) brought together. )
