We Are Not Angels: An Apocalyptic Angel Romance (The Warrior Angels Book 1)

by Nadine Little

About this book

Humanity is being purged, and the streets of Edinburgh have become a brutal playground for celestial executioners. Maia, a survivor who once found comfort in the safety of dystopian video games, is now navigating a literal apocalypse. When the heavens decide Earth must pay for its sins, survival is no longer a game; it is a desperate, bloody fight for existence against angelic forces that show no mercy to the innocent.

Everything changes when Maia’s path collides with Hunter, a savage and brooding warrior angel. What begins as a lethal encounter shifts into a high-stakes game of survival when an act of mercy leaves the wounded angel at her mercy. This explosive enemies-to-lovers tale forces two polar opposites together, blending a grumpy-sunshine dynamic with the raw, atmospheric tension of a dying world.

As Maia attempts to tame a creature bred for dominance and pain, the lines between monster and savior blur. This gripping paranormal romance is perfect for those who crave a dark, gritty aesthetic mixed with intense, steamy chemistry. If you are searching for a fast-paced, high-stakes adventure where forbidden love blooms amidst the wreckage of civilization, this haunting series opener is your next obsession.

alien apocalypse romance with a touch of Scottish humor

June 3, 2024

This book goes through several phases. There is the initial apocalypse-survival before the heroine meets the angel, the \"taming\" of the angel, then it goes hot and heavy, and lastly action for the final showdown. It keeps the book from being cloying or stale, and the pacing was impeccable. The book also avoids most of the typical cliches that would get me eye-rolling. No contrived misunderstandings or plot devices thrown in to artificially extend the story. The heroine is neither too stupid...

dystopian romance

Angels have come to Earth in order to punish humans, for what they did to the planet. They killed people left and right, even little ones. They are unbeatable. When before Maia played dystopian video games, now she lives in one. Hiding in an abandoned house, she is unsure how much time she has left. When one of the angels finds her and comes for her, she fights back and despite all odds injures him and films it. By doing so, she brings hope to humankind. A few days later, when she finds him...

Nice quick read.

If you're into apocalyptic love stories, this book is for you. The characters are well developed and likeable. Not my favorite genre, but I enjoyed reading it anyway. I received a free copy of this book and was asked to read and review it honestly. 😀 )

Dark + Dangerous

I purchased this book for my kindle on sale a while back and forgot about it and boy am I sad I’ve been missing out. No spoilers, but if you enjoy a feral masculinity and a short ‘will they, won’t they’ courtship, you’ll love this. I’m an absolute sucker for strong silent, and the head tilting, yes please! I found the storyline believable, the characters enjoyable, and read it straight through as I couldn’t put it down. I’m really hoping Nadine writes many more stories about feral creatures. )

Great book!

I really enjoyed this book. The relationships between the characters were so real. Hunter and Maia's relationship felt new and yet very plausible. The pacing was great, pulling you right along with the story. I'd say that fans of Emma Bull's \"War for the Oaks\" would like this book, although it's been years since I read that. Definitely recommend! )
