Drawn to the Demon Duke (Sombra Demons)

by Sarah Spade

About this book

For twelve years, a mysterious, leather-bound grimoire has been the singular obsession of Susanna’s life. What began as a teenage fascination with the unknown transforms into a life-altering reality when she finally translates a true love spell. Expecting a fantasy dream, she instead summons Duke Haures, a terrifyingly beautiful demon with glowing eyes and cold, clawed hands. Rather than a romantic escape, she finds herself shackled and dragged into a dark, otherworldly realm.

This gripping entry in the Sombra Demons series dives deep into the high-stakes world of dark romance. As Susanna navigates the perils of a demon academy and the suffocating intensity of her captor, the lines between prisoner and partner begin to blur. Haures is not just a captor; he is a man who has waited two millennia for his fated mate, and his possessive nature leaves no room for escape.

If you crave a paranormal romance that blends second-chance themes with the dangerous allure of fated mates, this story offers a seductive, tension-filled journey. Despite its fast-paced nature, the magnetic pull between the human researcher and the formidable duke provides a dark, addictive experience perfect for fans of supernatural obsession and otherworldly desire.

Susanna & Huares

February 5, 2026

I’ve absolutely loved every book of Sombra Demons, all of the human women meant for a Sombra Demon. The books have been perfectly written, I’ve immersed myself in this World and I’m so sad to see the end. Huares & Susanna was a perfect way to close this. These book boyfriends had spice, charm, devotion even when being clueless. )

Someone forgot to edit

This one felt a bit…. hasty. The plot wasn’t all that well thought out, actions occurred that earlier in the book they said didn’t/couldn’t, it has spots where it contradicts earlier books, and little to no editing happened. There’s even spots where a name was obviously going to be inserted but they forgot to go back and insert the name. )

unmotivated?

I was so excited to get Susanna’s pov with her man. But it felt rushed and all over the place. Girl I know you can write better than this. From previous books it feels like you were just trying to get this series over with. )

Susanna

Reading this one last gives you all the answers you are missing through the series. This was a great way to get to know the Duke and Susanna. We see where the story starts from without getting all the spoilers first. With reading this book last you get all of the jaw dropping twists. I loved this series and it was such a quick read. )

It’s painfully obvious that the author hasn’t bothered to proof-read this at all. So many typos and incorrect words used. Also there are still ‘placeholders’ that haven’t been filled in - for example she refers to one person as “_____” ??? Just a blank space that she’s clearly supposed to have gone back and filled in. There are stupid errors that pull you right out of the story and make you just want to stop reading. There are also random half sentences that make no sense and were obviously...
