Declan Burke is a battle-hardened bodyguard with a strict rule: he never mixes business with pleasure. As a professional at McKay-Taggart, he prides himself on his discipline and focus. However, his resolve crumbles the moment he meets Suzanne D’Angelo, a mysterious woman who hires him for protection against a relentless stalker. What begins as a standard security detail quickly spirals into a fight for survival, pulling Declan into a hidden, supernatural underworld he never knew existed.
Suzanne is far more than a damsel in distress; she is an earthbound angel on a high-stakes mission to shield Declan from an emerging demonic threat. To keep him close, she plays the role of a vulnerable client, but the ruse becomes dangerous when she finds herself defenseless against her bodyguard’s magnetic intensity. As an angel tasked with protecting a human, her desire for him is strictly forbidden, yet the temptation to surrender to their chemistry grows with every passing hour.
This gripping crossover between the Demonica and Masters and Mercenaries worlds is a masterclass in paranormal romance. Packed with enemies-to-lovers tension, high-stakes academy-style training, and the warmth of found-family dynamics, it is an essential read for fans of dark, supernatural thrills and steamy, high-stakes yearning.

4.5 stars I was really looking forward to this crossover story featuring 2 of my favorite series, and Declan and Suzanne definitely lived up to my expectations! Declan has always had almost superhuman skills when we have seen him in action in the past M&M stories, and now we finally get to find out why. Dec is Suzanne's assigned Primori- a human whose life is fated to have an important effect on the world in some way. When Declan is attacked by a demon and her warning system doesn't alert her...

I had to read this. I mean Declan! And having met Susanna in other books, she also made me curious. However, though I think I have read a book or two from the Demonica Underworld, it isn't really my thing. I enjoyed Declan and Susanna story well enough, but I did feel a bit outside the story. For the most part, everything was explained well enough so I wasn't completely lost, but I tend to be a reader who likes everyone's back story. Hence the outside feeling. I adored the comic book...

I haven't read any of Larissa Ione's books and I'm generally not interested in sci-fi/alternate world romance, but I was pleasantly surprised by this book. Ione crafted a rich story that I could easily follow even without knowing her Demonica world. Hands down, the best part of this book is Ione's interaction between Demonica characters (mostly Suzanne) and Taggart/Top characters from Blake's world. She nailed Ian Taggart's dialog and she set up a couple of scenes in Sean Taggart's restaurant,...

This is kind of what I was afraid of when I heard about this Masters and Mercenaries crossover, a world outside of McKay-Taggart that just didn’t fit right with the overarching tone I’ve come to know and love in that series. I’m no stranger to the world of PNR and angels and demons are one of my favorite subgenres in that realm. However, there are so many moving pieces in those worlds it’s hard to jump into it, especially in the context of a world that thus far has been devoid of otherworldly...
