The Life in the Blood: Book 1 – In the Shadow of Eden

by Scarlett Vayne

About this book

Amaury Valois is the First, a creature birthed from a primal defiance of the divine. As the patriarch of a bloodline of Pureborn predators, he commands an empire of shadow, ruling from the darkness of the modern world with ancient, unholy power. In this high-stakes dark romance, the line between predator and prey vanishes when Amaury sets his sights on Dr. Selene Harper. He needs her for a purpose that transcends mere hunger, sparking a collision between a brilliant scientist and a monster who views humanity as nothing more than a source of orgasmic ecstasy.

This is a haunting descent into a world of forbidden love and gothic decadence, where demon deals and lethal obsession reign supreme. As Selene is systematically broken and remade by the succubus-incubus allure of her captor, the narrative spirals into a visceral exploration of power and addiction. Every feeding is a dark ritual, and every touch is a venom-laced command that shatters her defiance.

Yet, even as Selene succumbs to the intoxicating shadow of Eden, the heavens begin to stir. Ancient archangels are awakening a new generation of Templars, ensuring that the endgame is steeped in holy war. Prepare for a ruthless, addictive journey where divinity and depravity collide.

These aren’t your sparkly, brooding immortals—the Pureborn are straight-up evil, ancient, gorgeous predators who get off on power, blood, and sex that’s so intense it literally rewires people. Amaury is terrifying and magnetic, and watching Selene go from this fierce, brilliant scientist to someone completely...
