Shelby Moore has spent her entire life navigating the thin veil between the living and the dead. When she lands her dream job as a location scout for a hit paranormal television show, she assumes her unique gift will be an asset. However, her first assignment at the decaying Parkesburg Sanatorium quickly proves that some secrets are better left buried. Haunted by the tortured souls of former patients and guarded by a demented caretaker, the asylum is far more dangerous than any soundstage she has ever visited.
For readers who crave a gripping urban-fantasy experience, this story delivers a chilling blend of suspense and supernatural intrigue. Accompanied by her loyal sidekick, a dog named Fugly, Shelby must confront the terrifying reality that ghosts are not just echoes of the past—they are active, malicious entities capable of inflicting real harm. As the darkness closes in, she discovers that her medium abilities might be the only thing standing between her and a permanent stay in the afterlife.
Drawing from her own extensive experience as a real-life paranormal investigator, author Joni Mayhan crafts a pulse-pounding narrative that feels hauntingly authentic. If you are looking for a page-turner that masterfully balances atmospheric dread with high-stakes mystery, this is your next obsession.

Before reading this, I had picked up no less than ten different novels and just could not get into them. This book grabbed me at the first sentence and kept me interested and wanting to know \"what happens next\" all the way through. Mayhan does a really nice job of characterization while still maintaining a good pace. The characters were likable, believable and empathetic. I never read fiction. I have read all of Joni Mayhan’s true paranormal books though, and because of that I knew that I would read anything she wrote, fiction or not. She is an amazing writer who has a definite way with words and once you open one of her books you will find yourself immersed in an incredible story. And when you finish one book you will find yourself on Amazon looking for another book by this author. This is exactly how I became such a huge fan. Crazy Dead People….You can’t put...

This book is awesome! Growing up in Southern Ohio, across the river from West Virginia, I could relate to many things Joni wrote about in this story. I got hooked from the beginning and didn’t want the story to end. I could feel every emotion Shelby felt as if I was standing right beside her. The descriptions of many things I could vision and even brought tears to my eyes as well. I’d highly recommend this book to everyone who loves paranormal stories. Joni, another great book and am hoping to...
