Dead Case in Deadwood: Deadwood Mystery, Book 3

by Ann Charles

About this book

Violet Parker is a real estate agent with a knack for finding more than just fixer-uppers. In the quirky, ghost-ridden town of Deadwood, she often stumbles upon the kind of trouble that refuses to stay buried. When a headless corpse lands on the autopsy table during an early morning visit, Violet’s professional life takes a gruesome turn into a dark conspiracy involving a body-part theft ring at the local funeral parlor.

As she digs deeper into the mystery, Violet suspects her own caustic coworker might be involved in the illicit trade. Navigating the shadows of the mortuary, she must uncover what is being smuggled out in the dead of night before she becomes the next item on the inventory list. The stakes are high, the humor is sharp, and the danger is visceral.

Blending supernatural suspense with witty banter and a simmering romantic tension, this installment is a masterclass in paranormal cozy mysteries. If you enjoy stories where the living are just as unpredictable as the spirits, this series is your next obsession. Join Violet as she balances property listings with paranormal peril in a page-turning adventure that proves some dead cases are better left undisturbed.

OMG!!! Just when I thought the series couldn't get any better Ann Charles brings it in this next book! I love this series!! Well Violet Parker is at it again and this time looks like she has gotten herself into something much bigger than she realized! The book is another page turner I kept bouncing back and forth of who could be responsible. Just when I thought I had it, another twist is added...Ann Charles has got a way of keeping you guessing till the last minute! And wow, was I not expecting...

A great read!

Violet (Spooky) Parker can't seem to escape the paranormal, no matter how hard she tries. In this humorous episode, it walks right in the front door, looking for her! She finds she must make the sale at all costs, and the costs include proving the place is haunted. All the favorite characters are back, as is Charles' talented writing. Her ability to blend humor, love, (and lust), spookiness, and just the right amount of spine triangles, make her books a joy to read. )

This series is about Violet and a crazy cast of characters in the crazy little town of Deadwood. Yep- there's a lot of crazy going on! Such GREAT characters that feel so real, with twists, turns, mystery, romance, suspense, a little paranormal added to the mix....And lots of humor sprinkled generously throughout - hilarious laugh-out-loud...

Another great visit to Deadwood

March 26, 2012

It was great to visit again with Violet, Doc, Harvey, and the rest of the characters in Ann Charles' Deadwood. Lots of laughs and good suspense (and frustration!) The author does a great job with blending the current story with the bigger, overarching story. One of the things I appreciated in this book is that the author didn't repeat the entire second book trying to get readers up to speed. What she did do is drop little reminders along the way, to tie in what happened in book 2 with what was...
