Ghost of Christmas Past (Red door series)

by Joy Eileen

About this book

Esmerelda Tussaud possesses a rare, unsettling gift: the ability to communicate with the restless dead. After years of enduring high school cruelty together, she and Jake Delassixe seemed destined for a lifetime of happiness. But on the night of their graduation, just as Jake offered his heart, Esmerelda vanished, leaving him shattered and alone. Seeking a fresh start, Jake trades the humid streets of New Orleans for the gritty charm of New York, pouring his grief into renovating a historic bar inherited from his grandmother.

Life in the city feels like a clean slate until the bar begins to host uninvited, spectral guests. When the supernatural activity spirals out of control, Jake has no choice but to reach out to the only person who understands the veil between worlds. As Esmerelda returns to help him exorcise the malevolent spirits haunting his business, the old sparks between them ignite with a dangerous, undeniable heat.

This urban fantasy romance blends the academy-honed resilience of its leads with a haunting, atmospheric mystery. It is a poignant exploration of second chances, asking if love can survive the deepest betrayals. Will Jake finally forgive the woman who broke his heart, or is their future as fleeting as the ghosts in his bar?

Ghost of Christmas Past

This was a wonderful love story. Even though they were apart for years their love didn't die. It was a ghost that brought them back together but their hearts kept them together. )

Very entertaining!

A sweet story with some ghostly intervention. When two souls know they belong together but one is in fear of hurting the other how can love be realized? This quick paced story has fun, a bit of steam and spooky giggles. A nice first read for me by Joy Eileen. )

A Fun Christmas Read

This is the author’s first book I’ve read, and I was pleasantly surprised. While I’m not a huge fan of romances, I thought is really cool to see events through Jake’s jilted, yet still caring, perspective. I went through a similar experience (I think we all probably have at some point), and both of those helped to bring the story home for me. My only complaint, and it really isn’t, is that Esmeralda seemed like a Mary sue type of character. It’s a long explanation, so please bear with me. The...

Read TRANSPARENT first

The book has tie-ins to her other books, but can be a stand alone book. Read TRANSPARENT first, though. A fun, shorter story that bridges the natural and supernatural worlds to help a young couple find their way. )

A little disappointing...

The novella was short, as it should be. However, that is no excuse for the very poor editing. It is almost like the author just threw this together and never re-read the copy for errors, misspelling and confusing sentence structure. The use of commas is terrible, either too many or not enough. Anyway, the story is okay. What the heck is a \"Batman converse\"? ) One person found this helpful
