House of Monsters : A Reverse Harem Monster Romance

by Penn Cassidy

About this book

Ten years ago, Iris Cooper survived a brutal tragedy that wiped out her family and shattered her life. Since then, she has been running from the nightmares that haunt her every waking moment. When a sudden inheritance forces her to return to the ancestral estate she has spent a decade avoiding, she expects to face her past—but she never imagined she would come face-to-face with literal monsters.

This dark paranormal romance plunges readers into a world where the lines between terror and desire blur. The estate is not just cursed; it is home to seductive, inhuman entities that feed on pain and suffering. As Iris struggles to maintain her sanity, she finds herself caught in a dangerous web of attraction. The house demands her submission, and these deadly, mysterious men are eager to claim her for their own.

Penn Cassidy delivers a gripping why-choose tale that leans heavily into the monster romance genre. With themes of trauma, obsession, and forbidden cravings, this story is a dark, atmospheric journey for those who prefer their romance with a side of supernatural dread. Will Iris burn the house down to escape her demons, or will she succumb to the dark, twisted allure of the monsters waiting in the shadows?

Dammmm

Iris is a fabulous character. She's the lone survivor of a tragic story in her childhood. Family is gone. She has no one who cares about me. She goes through life filled with a daze from toxicity. Empty encounters with random men, drinking and whatever drugs she can get. But a mysterious call brings her home. Back to a nightmare she keeps reliving. The huge southern estate is empty except for what hides in the night. Returning home was only meant to be until she burned it down. But from the...

Sadder than expected but still really good

Penn Cassidy's House of Monsters is a thrillingly dark and deeply emotional dive into the monster romance genre. Following Iris Cooper as she returns to her family's cursed estate, I was immediately struck by the book's unapologetically sinister atmosphere. What stood out most was the author's commitment to the darkness. The house felt like a character itself, and the descriptions of the monsters were fantastic—they were truly alluring and terrifying creatures, not just men with horns. This is...

Loved it!

I was hooked and scared throughout this story. Iris is a crazy character because I don’t think anyone in there right mind would do what she did. Plus, the voice in her head that developed after the trauma she went through just proves that she actually is crazy. The reason she is not in a mental institution is because she knows how to hide it by medicating herself. The monsters are dark with not an ounce of humanity and it was scary. Overall I think it was a great story to enjoy in October in...

No Romance, Just Pure Smut

October 19, 2023

This was not at all what I was expecting when I picked this up, but I still enjoyed the story and the ending was very fitting. Please note that there isn’t any romance at all in this. Just pure smut and more of a obsessive and possessive claiming. If you like dark stories with gore, with tentacles and monsters, pick this up! ) 4 people found this helpful

A good Dark romance

November 29, 2022

I know the author said this wasn’t a romance but hell I would have to disagree. Lol these monsters low-key had me swooning. One thing about me is I can do dark romance as long as it has what I view as a relatively good/ happy ending. Also I can’t do ow or cheating which I wouldn’t classify as dark but it’s one of my trigger in general and this didn’t have that, thus I wasn’t really triggered by what I was reading. Funnily enough, it was actually a pretty safe read for me! Was it deliciously...
