On Demon Wings: Experiment in Terror Series, Book 5

by Karina Halle

About this book

Three months after the gut-wrenching devastation of Lying Season, Perry Palomino is fighting a battle that is no longer confined to the shadows. As a ghost hunter, she has spent her life tracking restless spirits, but now the terror has shifted inward. Something ancient and malicious is clawing its way to the surface of her psyche, stripping away her identity and leaving her to face a terrifying transformation. With spontaneous fires erupting in her wake and a sinister presence lurking beneath her skin, Perry is losing the war for her own soul.

For fans of paranormal romance, this installment of the Experiment in Terror series delivers an intense, psychological descent into darkness. The chemistry between Perry and Dex remains as volatile and addictive as ever, defined by their lovably dysfunctional dynamic and a bond forged in trauma. As Perry’s control slips, the man she trusts most becomes her final line of defense—even if his presence risks triggering the very monster threatening to consume her.

Expect a story that is as much a head-trip as it is a visceral ghost story. Halle masterfully blends supernatural dread with raw, emotional stakes, ensuring that while the monsters are real, the heartbreak is what truly lingers.

Lovably dysfunctional characters

January 30, 2013

*Warning ~ mild spoilers may occur here* My poor little black heart was obliterated at the end of Lying Season. Pulverized, smashed, crushed, shattered into a million little sparkly bleeding dark pieces. Seriously. Okay, well...almost. It did hurt. And, in my typical fashion with Halle books, I had stayed up entirely too late reading it but still had to start On Demon Wings right away because I HAD to know what the hell was going on. So, alas it was another sleepless night for me. It's okay...

This one made my skin crawl and messed with my head. But I need more Perry and Dex!

A perfect series to be reading for October! This is book 5 in the Experiment in Terror series and you definitely need to read them all in order. This one definitely had a different feel than the previous books, but was so scary and made my skin crawl. A feeling of being possessed and you yourself not knowing what is real and what is not. It played with your mind. Overall, it was a good book but I did notice more errors than previous books and I have to say I missed a very crucial character that...

A series I can't get enough of!

May 19, 2012

On Demon Wings picks up roughly 3 months after the events of Lying Season. Miss Halle has done a wonderful job at the get go with the intro of a dream for this installment. I was pleasantly shocked that something so ballsy could happen and to think you never know what to expect in this series. Perry has yet again gone through some major life changes. Career, friends, health... She is not the same girl we are first introduced to in Darkhouse. Perry is coping but not easily when her world takes...

This series gets more intense and terrifying by the book

~All I had to do was think about how scared I was and how alone I felt. All I had to do was wish I had someone at my side who would know what was wrong with me and do whatever they could to fix me. I had that once and I didn’t have it anymore. If I thought about that, the tears would never stop coming, so I pushed the thoughts away.~ Ok, this review is gonna be uber quick for no other reason than I am already seriously itching to jump into the next book after that ending, and the only thing...

Demon Rage

August 23, 2013

The intensity keeps going up right along with the terror. Each entry takes you a little deeper into the mystery, a little deeper into the horror, and a little deeper into a tangled romance. Who will we get to see here: Ada Palomino is Perry's younger sister and would do anything to help her mend her broken heart. She knows that Perry is not crazy and actually does see ghosts. She may be a fashionista but she is a smart girl with a quick mind. Mom & Dad Palomino, they love their daughters but...
