Sapphire Nights (Crystal Magic Book 1)

by Patricia Rice

About this book

Welcome to Hillvale, a remote mountain town where the fog is thick, the population is tiny, and the ghosts are far more numerous than the living. When Samantha Moon drifts into town with nothing but a stray cat and a blank memory, she finds herself at the center of a community steeped in secrets. Hillvale is a place where the past refuses to stay buried, and for someone like Sam, who arrived without an identity, that history might be the only key to her survival.

Standing in her way is Chen Ling Walker, a cynical L.A. investigator who came to this quiet corner of California to escape his own haunting memories. A man of logic and law, Walker is deeply skeptical of the paranormal activity that defines the town. Yet, as a series of mysterious deaths stirs up ancient feuds, he finds himself drawn into Sam’s strange, supernatural world.

This slow-burn paranormal romance masterfully weaves together historical intrigue and urban fantasy mystery. As Walker and Sam navigate the thin line between science and spirit, they must learn to trust one another to uncover the truth. If you crave atmospheric storytelling, quirky small-town charm, and a high-stakes investigation, this haunting journey is the perfect escape.

I loved this book. I wish I lived in quirky Hillvale 💕

What a fun, suspenseful and easy to read book! I loved all the quirky characters , especially and the lawman’s relationship. No crude sex scenes and a guy with his own demons, who respects and believes in his lady. Will definitely be reading more from this author. )

Interesting mystery

This book seems to be very loosely connected to the California Malcolm series, which itself is a continuation of two prior series. In this book it's not so much the conflict of magic and science, but magic and politics at work. I don't think that I care for that juxtaposition quite as well. With science v. magic, I felt the books revolved around different perspectives in viewing the world and certain, sometimes unexplainable, events. The two were compatible, if only those involved could learn...

Sapphire Nights

Samantha Moon arrived in Hillvale with no idea of her identity or why she was there other than it was programmed as home on her car's gps. Hillvale is a divided town between the Lucys who are people who have or believe they have paranormal abilities and the Nulls, ordinary people. Chen Ling Walker, an LA investigator, is there to find out what happened to his father who disappeared in the area twenty years ago. He is skeptical about the Lucys and, even though he is attracted to Sam, is unsure...

Mystery, magic, murder and love

I really like Patricia Rice. I like that she makes her characters very real. The story stars out with Sam driving with no memory of her past. She only knows that the GPS in her car has where she's been and where she is going, which is to a very small town of Hilldale. She immediately is attracted to the deputy, Walker. All the strange women accept her because she shows up with a cat that belongs to Cass, and so Cass must have sent her. There are strange people and many strange happens in...
