Eldrith Manor
Leigh Rivers
by James Garcia
Three years after a tragic car accident stole his wife and unborn son, Paul Herrera is still drowning in grief. When he inherits a mysterious, sprawling estate on the California central coast, he views it as a fresh start. However, the woman tasked with showing him the property is an uncanny, haunting reflection of the wife he lost. What begins as a search for closure quickly spirals into a fight for his sanity as the house reveals it is not as empty as it seems.
This gripping paranormal romance masterfully weaves together the agony of obsession and the chilling reality of the supernatural. As Paul spends a solitary week behind closed doors, he is forced to confront the literal and figurative ghosts that follow him. The narrative balances the tenderness of a lingering love story with the unsettling tension of a classic ghost tale, leaving readers to question where the past ends and the nightmare begins.
Fans of atmospheric thrillers and emotional journeys will be captivated by the double-layered plot and the slow-burn suspense. With its cinematic pacing and hauntingly beautiful prose, this story is a must-read for anyone looking to lose themselves in a world where the veil between life and death is terrifyingly thin.

I loved the double plots! This story of love, obsession, and spooks is well presented by Mr. James Garcia Jr. The love story was nice. The silly banter between Paul Hernandez and Anne Bircher was well placed in the story. I am not sure, but maybe Mr. Garcia intended to show what healthy joyous love looks like. Paul and Anne's love was healthy. On the contrary, the obsessive love Aunt Flora had for her deceased husband was dark. Aunt Flora's inability to let her dead husband rest in peace made...

Ever read a book that makes you think: now this would be a box office sensation? Yeah, Seeing Ghosts inspired that thought in my head, and here's why...Garcia has a talent for patiently revealing details. Garcia has this sort of fluency about his writing, a sort of graceful cadence toward perfection, and it makes every sentence in his book so fluid and purposeful. The simplicity in his imagery is clever. For instance, \"carcasses of pizza boxes\" (pg 5) or how the doorknob “squeaked in my hand...

I have waited 4 years since buying this novel to read it. It has been a worthwhile wait now that I have finished it. This is my first introduction to Garcia’s writing and I am impressed. I can now look forward to reading his Dance On Fire trilogy. I loved this novel. It kept me captivated and involved. The pace is consistent with no peaks or troughs to alter the pace. Compared to some horror novels I have read, I would regard Garcia’s attempt as a medium to low level of horror, but this is not...

I read this book last month but it's just been released. This story revolves around Paul Herrera, who is still mourning the death of his wife and unborn son three years previously. He lives, but that is about it. Then he and his brother inherit a farmhouse from an Aunt they never knew they had. It seems too good to be true, but they decide to leave town and take a look at their new property. Then Paul decide to stay at the house and since his brother has to get back to work they say their...

While it is an interesting premise, and I did finish the novel, it didn't really appeal to me. I wish the author well with the rest of his works. ) One person found this helpful
