The darkness is closing in, and the stakes have never been higher for the Wild Hunt. With the Tuathan Brotherhood defeated, Ember and her allies must turn their attention to a far more terrifying threat: Lazarus, an ancient liche hiding in the shadows of the Winter Hall Magical Academy. As he prowls the grounds of Mt. Rainier, he is not just stripping students of their magical abilities; he is consuming their very souls. When Talia’s desperate attempt to stop him goes horribly wrong, she finds herself ensnared in a lethal web, forcing Ember and Herne into a desperate, high-stakes race against time to save one of their own.
This gripping installment blends haunting ghost-story elements with a rich, atmospheric backdrop. Fans of paranormal romance will find themselves deeply invested in the evolving dynamics of this found-family, as Ember and Herne’s bond reaches new depths of intensity. Seeing the legendary, fearsome Herne reveal a vulnerable, possessive human side adds a compelling layer of emotional resonance to the supernatural warfare.
If you are looking for a series that balances high-octane action with slow-burn character development, this is your next obsession. The journey of these characters is intricate and rewarding, making it essential to start from the beginning to fully appreciate the growth that defines this masterful series. I have enjoyed watching Ember and Angel, both, grow. The story was riveting, as usual. It is so endearing to see the \"human\" side of Herne. How he is possessive of Ember. I would enjoy seeing Ember use a bit more of her emerging powers and fighting abilities. The descriptions of surroundings take over just a little, for me. I would enjoy more by play with the characters, or some type of action. It doesn't have to be life or death every time! But, I still loved the book. I am already looking...

Wow. This world keeps growing in size and complexity with every book. I love it. I enjoyed watching the crew talking to and rescuing young people and I'd love to see the young adults we met in this book show up again. There's a lot of untapped potential for Ember and her coworkers and friends to become a refuge for some of the folks they encounter - chosen family, support system, and maybe employment all in one. This book felt a little creepier to me. Ember takes a trip onto the astral realm to...

A must read though I do strongly advise starting at the beginning of the series so you have a full understanding of Ember and the Wild Hunt. Ember is growing into herself and as a person as she starts to understand what her heritage means all while trying to find and destroy a liche. I love the battle scene at the end, as good as the Mabel battle scenes. Raven is in it too though she doesn't have as big a role but it's still an important role. Sometimes we need our friends to point out the...
