For single mother Elizabeth Jennings, moving to the isolated town of Blayton, Virginia, is supposed to be a fresh start for her and her teenage daughter. However, their new rental home comes with a chilling neighbor: an abandoned, dilapidated house that seems to pulse with restless energy. As unexplained phenomena begin to haunt their daily lives, Elizabeth finds an unexpected anchor in Nathan Thorpe, the town’s steadfast sheriff.
What begins as a standard request for protection quickly evolves into a slow-burn romance that defies explanation. Nathan is more than just a man with a badge; he is the key to unraveling the supernatural mysteries plaguing their property. As they navigate the unsettling bumps in the night, the chemistry between them grows, forcing Elizabeth to confront a different kind of fear: the vulnerability of opening her heart again.
Blending urban fantasy with a touch of atmospheric dread, this story masterfully weaves a found-family dynamic into a haunting small-town mystery. Readers who crave paranormal romance will be captivated by the delicate balance of suspense and intimacy. With a shocking twist that challenges everything you think you know, this is the perfect immersive read for those who like their love stories served with a side of the unexplained.

A woman at the library mentioned this book to me....I am glad I saw it....It seems a simple, sweet love story with a bit of teen first love thrown in and a haunting mystery on top...Add to that a town with quirky citizens and a mysterious cat....Perfect quick read which will hold you attention...loved it, usually, on mysteries I can figure out the ending but this one caught me completely by surprise and in such a great way.... ) One person found this helpful

I love the plot of the story but things just don't add up. The End makes some things clearer but not all at all. I'm left wondering what Melody seen in the mirror that made the mother and her \"move\" the very next day....Why people disappear and why in one chapter it explains that the school has a strict no backpack policy (because of a scene that has to play out a certain way)...yet in another chapter and though out most of the rest of book they are all carrying backpacks to school???? The...

I absolutely LOVED the unique story line, and the characters were really good, too. The reasons I didn't give it five stars was 1. for the writing. It was very immature to me, and if I hadn't wanted to know what was going on with this little town I would have put it down around a quarter of the way through. And 2. even though the twisted end cleared up some questions (not all), it created more without answering them, and I personally don't like being left saying, \"But what about...?\" I would...

I enjoyed this book, but it is very G rated. Not that this is a bad thing. I mean that this book fits anyone who likes an exciting and romantic storyline. The characters were believable and this book was well written. I am not sure if this book was written for tweens (since most of the characters are high school students), but it was a good mixture of love, ghosts, and the future of good things for new additions to a family. I had a good time reading this book! ) 13 people found this helpful
